Happy anniversary all married in Massachusetts 5/17/04
I am hetero but fully support and will continue to defend for your civil right to marry as written into our Constitution by John Adams and defended by out Supreme Judicial Court.

Indeed. The highest court in Massachusetts ruled that the Massachusetts state constitution (u/ various clauses) allowed same-sex marriages and that such marriages could begin on May 17, 2004. (Goodridge decision)

It's been one year. What's happened since then?

Despite such dire predictions that the sky would fall:

- more than 6,000 Massachusetts same-sex couples have married
- most heterosexuals in Massachusetts are becoming bored with the entire issue
- more heterosexuals than before May 17, 2004 are in favor of same-sex marriage
- more heterosexuals now understand that same-sex marriages are unintrusive into their own lives

All that being said despite the rightwing religious radicals prediction of hellfire and brimstone!
