GLBT is the first forum I go to now after "discussion."

In LBN and GD they were laughing today over an investor who committed suicide because he lost everything to Madoff in that scandal.

That is not a value system I recognize. It wasn't the reason I joined DU.

But the people here are civil, beautiful (inside and out), courteous, intelligent, accepting...

I could go on.

15. I can pinpoint the exact moment

It was during the primaries, when DU was flooded by a constant stream of newbies who did not share our values so much as idolized Obama, and did not lurk or get a feel for the community here. A small hardcore group flung shit constantly, running off a lot of the old-timers that made this place what it was (I've been here since the early days of DU, and some of the names it's just heartbreaking to see kicked to the curb). This small group was emboldened by biased moderating, and now they've got the run of the joint. It's just Free Republic spray painted blue now.

To be fair, not every hardcore Obama supporter from the primaries is being an asshole now, there are quite a few that I personally butted heads with and had on ignore for a while who are doing a wonderful job of standing up for us, and they GET IT and I love and appreciate them. But at the same time, the same people who were setting a nasty, divisive tone and being assholes 24/7 to people then are doing it now.
