Also known as the Continuum of Teacher Development.
In my school, it reared it's (ugly?) head at last year's teacher eval but then the admins kind of wimped out with it. Now they're bringing it back with a vengeance. ( At least mine is. Another admin told his people to just right anything on it; it'll be stuck in a file and no one will ever look at it again.)
It's hard to describe. A series of "standards" or scales on which we are supposed to rate ourselves as educators. ( I thought the admins got paid to rate us; no?)
It's written in the densest, most obfuscatory educational gobbledygook imaginable. I literally can't figure out what they are talking about.
It precedes the formal observation; that's all I know. I have to rate myself on this and rate myself on that. It may.... or may NOT... be used as part of the eval. I do this rating by filling out a bunch of forms. ( If I give myself a bad rating will they outfit me w. robes, a sign and a dunce cap, a la the Chinese Cultural Revolution?)
And guess who's teaching the kids while I'm fumbling around thru this damn thing?
This wouldn't concern me but I'm retirement age, make close to top scale and have a big mouth ( actually a big pen). This admin and I have tangled in the past. They would love to get rid of me. I hope to leave anyway pretty soon ( next year or two) but won't let these pygmies drive me out ahead of time.
Anyone here familiar with this thing? Any advice?
