Oakland Teaching Jobs Available... on Craigslist
Translation: Scabs needed.

Teachers here have been working without a contract for more than a year, and the district is turning to Craigslist for substitutes as a threatened strike approaches.

Listed under education, the ad for emergency temporary teachers offers $300 a day “in the event of a Work Stoppage” on April 22.

“We can’t afford to be caught flat-footed. So we do have to make some provisions,” said Troy Flint, spokesman for the Oakland Unified School District.

He said the district will need 2,400 teachers in the event of a planned one-day walkout both sides hope can be averted through negotiations. The posting on Wednesday is part of the district’s contingency plan.
