http://www.nsf.gov/discoveries/disc_summ.jsp?cntn_id=104473 Researcher from the University of Montana. There was a special about it on PBS.

Dr. Strobel has discovered plants which are helpful to humans. Might even find a cheap plant product to help fight Malaria in third world countries.

Women who need hormones later in life have been told plant hormones are not good for them. Instead they are to take horse urine hormones which are not similar to humans ones. Plant extract from a type of sweet potato was discovered by a Dr. Lee. Since this is free of patents (a gift of Dr. Lee to women), the plant hormones are cheaper than synthetic ones. http://www.nsf.gov/discoveries/disc_summ.jsp?cntn_id=104473

The FDA and drug corporations have been trying to remove the BHRT (bio-identical plant hormone)from the market so they can profit off the HRT drugs. The HRT drugs (mostly horse urine and not similar to women's hormone) have caused problems in women. BHRT has not. They claim these plant hormones are not good. I guess Dr. Strobel shot a big hole in that argument.

Another lost argument by the FDA is that BHRT has not been tested properly in the US. Maybe not but they've been using it in Europe and China for over 50 years. It's been around a long time with few side effects.

http://www.citizens.org/preserve-access-to-bhrt Citizen health groups are fighting to keep BHRT on the market available to women. Women find doctors reluctant to give their patients BHRT. Some women have to go to many doctors before they can find one who will even allow it. And even then they have to go to a "pharmacy compounder" to make up their prescription.

Since when does the FDA take the side of drug companies when a cheaper and safer plant hormone is available? Why not inform women?
