What are Pot Fines around the country? Please post....
Edited on Sat Nov-17-07 06:22 PM by nostalgicaboutmyfutr
In Colorado having one ounce is a misdemeanor fine of $100....not sure about more than that.

Colorado also has medical marijuana with ~1500 registered users...though the rules are stricter/more restrictive than California....

Just recently Denver passed a law that said Pot possession should be the lowest priority.....we are getting there

What do you others have to deal with in other states??

BTW here is a simple link to help you discover if you don't know:

1. people in Mississippi possessing pot aren't charged with possession
They're always charged with sale or intent to distribute; nets them a year or more in prison for possession, essentially. So the decriminalization of small quantities is moot and never applies. This applied to the people I know busted for pot. On the other hand, my redneck friend from Virginia staying in Mississippi used to drive around drunk all the time, and never even got ticketed; just got told to pull to the side of the road and rest until he was sober.

The bottom line is Mississippi police associate marijuana with "hippies" and "liberals", and it is thus bad, while drunk driving is the arena of "good ole boys" and rascally "frat kids". Hence the difference in enforcement.

2. 6 mo. to a year for small amounts in Alabama.
Not really sure about how often they "only" charge you with simple possession, but it's probably just as bad if not worse than in Mississippi.

3. I did 6 mos. for 1 joint in Alabama...
got to rub elbows with murderers, rapists, and republicans. You would think I was fucking Al-Queda the way I was treated. The only answer is to STAY THE FUCK OUT OF THESE HILLBILLY HELL-HOLES. I moved to CA and travel mostly in the west/NE now. I have friends and family in the south but they have to come see me. Between bushies' war on civil liberties and the idiotic "war" on drugs, I might as well stay indoors and not leave the house until Jan 2009.

5. In upstate of SC here it's....
a misdemener under 1 ounce. Fine's about six hundred dollars plus you automatically loose your driver's liscense for six months. If you have paraphenalia(siq) it doubles the fine as a second charge. If it's not all in the same container, like a joint rolled and in the bag also or seperate, then it's a intent to distribute charge. :hi:
Gotta love the bible belt huh!
