Where do 2008 presidental candidates stand on medical marijuana?
I know Kucinich is for it but what about the others? I just don't seem to have much current information on the others.

1. If I was a candidate, I would...
NOT stand on marijuana but smoke it. :smoke: :+

At least we all know the ** Administration is smoking something.

I've goggling and searching and I'm getting frustrated.
I can't seem to find out. Maybe they aren't standing on it and smoking it as you said you would be doing.

2. I don't see this as one of the major issues this time around.
Do you? Really?

3. It matters a lot to me.
It's one of my major issues as someone with a disease that has an improved cure rate among cannabis users.

5. Fine. But as a national issue?
I mean, I think pot should be legalized, end of story. It's pretty much been proven to be a benign substance for adult users, yet we're throwing people in jail for using it (not to mention consuming millions/billions in tax dollars every year combatting it)--meanwhile alcohol and tobacco are legal, despite causing hundreds (thousands?) of deaths in this country every year, blah blah blah, ain't gonna happen as long as there's a Republican party. But the medical use thing has a pretty narrow constituency--it's important, it's the right thing to do, but it's not anywhere near the top of the list for most voters, I don't think.

9. Since this is the Drug Policy Forum...
I thought I would ask my drug policy related question since others in this forum may have already found answers to my question.

Didn't check the forum. My bad.

11. That's okay.
I've probably done it myself at one point or another. (The sports forum also comes out on the latest page.)

I would like to know the candidates position on all drug policies not just medical M but this one matters to me because of recent things happening in CA with the DEA.

I find that most other non-drug related issues are much easier to research but I got stuck on this one.

4. i know one thing. Hillary is hiding on the issue. guaranteed.
then again, she hides on every issue until the polls are in.

Richardson gave a speach a couple of months ago (I can't find it and don't recall where) and called the war on drugs is a fiasco.
Obama has not come out on medMarijuana, but has called our current policy counterproductive.

7. Thanks.
It looks like he supports it January 26, 2006 :

“After speaking with many seriously ill New Mexicans, I have decided to include this bill on my call. This issue is too important, and there are too many New Mexicans suffering to delay this issue any further.”

I'll admit I got so frustrated looking up Edwards, Obama, and Clinton that I looked no further.

6. I don't think most consider that issue to be at the top of the American agenda?
I'm not sure everyone will have a statement on it?

8. It doesn't have to be "at the top" for me to want to know.
I want to know. Other people have other issues they want answers for and this is one of mine. I have answers for many of the other issues I care about. But since this is the Drug Policy forum I believe this question is appropriate.

12. Absolutely. I just don't know that you'll find the information with ease.
I also don't have a problem with your asking the question, sorry you took it that way. :hi:

13. It's not easy to get info.
I'll email the candidates themselves. I think this and other drug policies are in need of some serious overhauling. The policies of the '80's and '90's aren't working and should be reassessed. I have a feeling we will have the House, Senate, and Presidency in 2009 and I hope we find sometime eventually to update these policies.

Plus I know the candidates can and have changed over the years so I wanted up-to-date info.
