The pro-life Super Bowl ad - what's the purpose?
Is it to convince/coerce women to continue their risky pregnancies?

1. I don't know
I did hear on CBS news tonight that Focus on the Family - which has laid over 250 workers off thus depriving some familes of income - spent around 2.5 million dollars on the ad.

Some spokesman for the group said it's to help tell people who they are.

2. who Focus on the Family is?
So, they are only about forced birth? They don't have anything besides that to offer Christian families?

5. It isn't so much promoting forced birth
as the subjugation of women in general - not just when it comes to reproductive rights. I don't know that many details about them except enough that they're real nuts. I believe I've heard it mentioned on Stephanie Miller that James Dobson (I think he was the founder) maintained that one way to keep your son from being gay was to have the kid shower with his dad so he could see what a manly man looked like. :puke:

The usual twisted stuff that comes from those who use Jesus to justify their delusions.

9. As far as I am concerned, their hatred of women makes everything else they may have to "offer"
completely irrelevant.

6. They'll probably get even more after this.
I just don't think women should be coerced into continuing pregnancies that put their health at risk. I read an obit in the AJC a few months back about a woman who died b/c she refused cancer treatment b/c she was pregnant. Fine, that's her choice, but in her obit, her husband was quoted, "She did not value her life over that of her unborn child" which I found to be a horrifying statement. And quite telling as far as how these people think. She left 2 teenage daughters without a mother.

10. That is fucked up. Aside from the fact that a woman SHOULD value her life
over that of a fucking embryo, it is absolutely selfish to leave two teenagers without a parent when it was avoidable.

11. I know, I know
Those were my thoughts exactly.

But it reeks of patriarchy.
