Planned Parenthood leader resigns after watching abortion ultrasound
Abby Johnson told the KBTX television station: "I just thought I can't do this anymore, and it was just like a flash that hit me, and I thought that's it. "I feel so pure in heart. I don't have this guilt, I don't have this burden on me any more, that's how I know this conversion was a spiritual conversion. She now supports the Coalition For Life, an anti-abortion group down the road from her old pro-choice group.

2. I was wondering the same thing.
Although, she says it was from watching an ultra-sound - apparently one with 3-D capabilities. I didn't know that 3-D imagery was being used in the ultra-sound field, at least as it relates to pregnancy.

13. This line made me wonder about the Christo-fascism
"I feel so pure in heart."

Those people are all about "purity". It seemed like a dog-whistle to me.

3. Someone made an interesting comment on the Houston Press coverage of this story.
I worked at Planned Parenthood for years, and continue to volunteer. Abby's story is unusual, but the reverse of it is not so unusual.

You wouldn't believe the number of people who have spent time protesting out on the sidewalks in front of clinics who, one day, show up inside the clinic asking for an abortion.

Each one explains - up, down, and sideways - that her case is different, her need somehow more important, her choice right when others choices are wrong. Each of those protesters is treated with the same care and respect as any other patient seeking abortion or any of the MANY other services Planned Parenthood offers.

Many of them wind up right back out on the sidewalk, sometimes at the same clinic where they obtained abortions, protesting against the very people who provided the legal medical procedure they obtained.

I hope Abby Johnson finds some peace. But I also hope that women who need the health services Planned Parenthood provides continue to find safe, legal, and nonjudgmental access to those services. That's much more important.

4. Poor Abby will have to convert again when her daughter/niece/sister/BFF/self gets an abortion.

Or I guess she could just stay a hypocrite, like most of them.

5. Planned Parenthood Says Former Director Breached Confidentiality Agreement
KBTX-TV, Bryan/College Station, Texas
6:30 PM Nov 2, 2009

<snip>
Friday Planned Parenthood issued a restraining order against Johnson and the Coalition for Life. The paperwork was filed October 30th and says Johnson and the Coalition for Life are "restrained from disclosing to any person or entity any document, record, file or information" that Johnson obtained from Planned Parenthood.

The full court petition says Johnson was seen removing items from the Planned Parenthood facility in October and claims she also copied confidential files. The complaint alleges she met with the Coalition for Life and shared confidential information about an out-of-town doctor and nurse practitioner who perform services at the Bryan Planned Parenthood.

8. Ha! I had a hunch she was going to turn out to be an anti-choice spy!
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 09:06 AM by Dangerously Amused

Her "conversion" was too "miraculous," too scripted and too carefully orchestrated for the media.

ETA: good catch!

7. She was so disturbed by it that she now supports a group that opposes contraception. Brilliant.
You can help end the ravages of contraception by saving sex for marriage and using natural methods of family planning. These are just as accurate as artificial methods and they have many benefits that artificial contraception does not have. Examples include increased communication between spouses and the capability to detect feminine problems before they become real issues.

14. Scariest part of all
Why is contraception so evil except it offers the Christian Taliban full ownership of the bodies and lives of women in this country?

These people disgust me, it is very difficult for me to keep from hating them. Very difficult.

confidential information and makes it public, I hope the people whose information it is sue the hell out of her and her real organization.
