Well...found some really old files
As in 2002 old... Imported file of novel onto storyist after converting to rtf. It went well. I also printed the beast. It is from my seat of pants phase...and for a second draft, so file claims, it ain't bad.

I think editing this after a few years should be "easy" to do. Sadly I could paint scenes better... What happened?

1. I've always needed a lot of distance to get a good edit.
In this case, I think you've got that part down.

I'm betting this will look entirely different to you. I had a similar experience with an old story and figured it would be garbage when I picked it up again after several years. But I was pleasantly surprised. I ended up with a lot of ideas for improvement/edits, too. I need to finish my work in progress and then I plan to tackle that one now that I have good notes and an up-to-date file.

2. Yup, not bad...
But I need to do character profiles and all that. Might even make a good series...I needed to change character Name's though...

3. I'm noticing that about writing as I go along.
When I write something that feels like it's going into a deadend, I get away from the work and play a few hands of solitary. When I get my percentages of wins up, I go back to the writing and see the situation as if for the first time. Either I find the word I'm looking for, or I find a better direction to take the story.

May be a left brain right brain thing.

Oh, and my percentages of solitary wins has really improved.
