This morning I received notification that the excerpt from "Weep" (a novel) that I sent to the Cherokee Arts & Humanities Council has been chosen for their upcoming publication, "Cherokee Writers From the Flint Hills of the Oklahoma: An Anthology." I am over the moon with excitement. Why this means so much to me is impossible to explain but I feel happy to my very marrow today.
Also, it just so happens that today marks 32nd wedding anniversary for Mr. Pup and me! :D :bounce: :woohoo: :toast:
Let this give you faith as well... I spent the last ten years with a big time agent who (other than setting up a $200+ lunch with a publisher who took 2 years to say, "no") did nothing for me. This submission was the first one I've made in over ten years and my story was picked up right away! It took all of 6 weeks to turn it all around. Always happy to share good news!
I am particularly happy to be chosen for this anthology. This is the first submission I've made for over ten years and the first since I released my agent. I can't believe I hit on the first try!
Just received my proof of the whole novel. It's the most exciting thing I've ever held in my hands (apologies to Mr. Pup). I think what pleases me most about the anthology is being recognized as a Cherokee writer. :hi:
