I've had a breakthrough with my screenplay!
The bad guy wants complete mind control, he is using religion to get it.

Who said that I can't incorporate what is going on in a fantasy sci-fi screenplay.

I am so happy, although the entire thing came to me in one big chunk, little important tid bits have been waiting to be filled, now I just have to type all this junk, and try to sell it.

So what do you think of a high priest using religion to dominate the people? I'm so happy, I have a screen play with oil metaphors and now I've figured in mind control, I can't wait until I get done.

I'm 90 pages into 140 pages, it is kind of a cross between the Princess Bride and Dune, and once I send it to my brilliant friend Alicia, I'll have snarky kick ass lines to boot.

I hope I'm as smart as the rest of my family, if that is the case than this thing actually might get sold.

I wish that my posts reflected actually talking to me, unfortunately I feel they are lacking.

Anyway yay! I have finally figured out that last plot development that ties everything together, and I want to celebrate here on DU.

2. 5 major scenes
If you have the 5 major scenes on paper then you have the screenplay. Start as close to the first major crisis for the good guy as possible. Introduce the heavy early.

A friend sold a whole unwritten script based on the following sentence. His agent asked what he was working on he said,

"A dead rock-n-roller comes back to haunt a town that banned his music."

The agent says "I know who wants that! How much do you have?"

Friend says "65 pages." He actually had nothing so when the agent called back 4 hours later and said Ozzy Osbourne was attached, he put on some coffee and started writing. It got made too.

I highly recommend "Making A Good Script Great" by Linda Seger. And good luck!

3. I didn't know that, about the five major sceens, on the re-write

I'll keep that in mind.

I does start heavy that is for sure, it starts with a poisoning.

So far I have two pitches, it is LOTR meets Pirates of the Caribbean or The Princess Bride meets Dune, actually all 4 movies are inspirations. Although Pirates of the Caribbean is only an inspiration b/c it has pirates, but otherwise I am being inspired by so many great works of art, Orwell, Huxley. My bad guy will give speeches reminiscent of Hitler. I am researching Hitler speeches as we speak.
