Question here about the TV coverage of NHL games...
Hockey in HD is truly a gift from the gods. IMHO, no sport is enhanced to a greater degree by HD than hockey.

But I have a major complaint about that same TV coverage. It goes to NBC, VS, and the CBC.

Why, WHY do the cameras shift to some kind of fan shot or commercial immediately after a whistle?

A lot of the game and gamesmanship occurs right after a whistle. Pushing, shoving, cross-checking, facials, and more. But we're not supposed to see it.

The refs don't have to make calls because nobody saw what happened except for the folks in the stands and we all know they don't count.

Nearing the end of the 2nd period tonight, the whistle was blown in the Penguin end. The NBC folks were a bit slow on the trigger. The camera showed what was surely the hit of the night. Two seconds late on the cut to commercials. I believe the hittee was Datsyuk. I never knew the hitter. NBC never replayed that slip. The hit of the night.

WTF is that all about?
