Here comes the Preakness. Rooting for the filly. But there is just one, of course.

5. An hour before the Preakness
NBC will be showing the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, for anyone who is interested. I was sincerely pissed that it got pre-empted last week for hockey.

I miss it like crazy--went every year when we lived in Cincinnati. I started out as an eventer, although certainly not at this level!

Three-Day Eventing has its origins in the military. Men and women compete evenly--one of the few Olympic sports where they do. It consists of Dressage, Cross-Country Jumping, and Show Jumping. If you've never seen it, its phenomenal. And if you've never seen Kentucky Horse Park, it's a double treat.

6. The most disgusting thing about DU? No appreciation of sports as part of our lives.
Just donated.

Will pass next time. Really, really tired of DU dumping on something that many of us have appreciated, and that has mattered to us.

Take notice, Skinner.

8. Here's another version, of course
Secretariat ran two races at Belmont Park at a mile and a half, not one. I can't count how many side bets I have won with that little bit of info.

17. By a length (or less.)
He did a VERY good job making up her distance, and might have had it if the race were a SMALL bit longer.

18. I was hoping Bird would do it, but it was a thrilling finish
and RA is magnificent - can hardly be unhappy, though I would have preferred that the 1-2 order be reversed. She'd still be adulated. But, at least, that little horse won't be dismissed as a "fluke" now, or all the credit given to the track conditions. (I actually heard one of the commentators today say that MTB "had everything his own way" in the Derby). And good for the very gritty MM, who always hangs in there. I'd have liked to see GQ do a bit better in this one. Wonder what the story was with POTN and FF?

27. Thanks A Lot... Video Is Much Better Than That At You Tube...
I really appreciate it. My husband invited 4 people over for dinner yesterday and I was so busy at the time of the race. I would have been a nervous wreck if I watched it. I'm like that about tennis too. When my favorites are playing I have to wait until they've played then watch the "replay" after I know the results!

My stomach gets in knots. Of course tennis takes much longer for the results1!!

Great site though!

26. He's A Smallish Colt... But SHE Isn't Bigger That The Others. It's One Reason
colts & phillies don't run in races together. But, there are many who feel they should run together more often. Horse racing gives the reasoning as being that colts can sire many phillies while phillies will only produce one off spring a year. I'm glad I don't have to decide because having seen other races where horses have been put down because of accidents, it does make some sense.

Even though she's pretty much out run all the other phillies, I think putting her in the Preakness was a "gutsy" decision. I sure wouldn't blame the owners or trainers if she doesn't run in the Belmont, and I'm half hoping she won't

I LOVE horses and have heard some horrible stories in the past, I can't even bear to listen to most of it. Regardless whether they are male or female. One broken leg and it's over for racing at least. I do think I've heard a story or two about horses winning after breaking a leg, but that may have been a movie and not real.

32. Thanks For The Feed Back... I'm Kind Of Hoping She Passes On The
Belmont. Since it won't be a Triple Crown race, why take chances?? Ruffian & Eight Bells really were disastrous and the outcome devastating!

I just would hate to see something like that again! It would BREAK my heart!

29. I Was Just Checking Equibase & She Actually Weighs Less That She
does! Guess it's just the way the picture looks. All the males were at 126 and she was 121. Now, I admit I don't read this stuff much, but there was a "help" there and she actually ran the fastest times of all of them.

I'm consumed with this today, ya think??
