1. Gee, I wonder who just voted for Barriod Bonds?
Three guesses and the first two don't count.

2. As much as I despise the guy..
I think its gonna be Bonds. He does hold both of the important records even if they are questionable. I don't think its gonna be a right away thing..I think its going to take a few years though..Not saying I would vote him in (I would not) but there are enough people who believe the "he never tested positive" for anything meme.

5. i almost kinda agree
if there wasn't any doubt that he did it on ability, he'd be a first ballot, nearly unanimous hall of famer. As it is, he might get in eventually, but it will take a decade or two, or three. I think its because of the records that will ultimately delay his getting in. if he retired with 650 or even 710, it'd be one thing, but to let him in now says that its ok that he broke the records by cheating.

20. McGwire held one of those records too.
But in the three years he's been voted on, he hasn't gotten better than 23.6% (last year)

7. even the one dimensional guys like McGwire,Sosa and Palmeiro?
Because outside of hitting lots of HR's I don't think they had particularly notable careers......Even if you ignore the whole steroid stuff (which most won't) I just don't think those guys were rounded enough baseball players...

8. Goodness no.
That's why I said "most". Bonds, Clemens, Manny...probably A-Rod if he keeps playing that way will probably all make it.

Sammy, McGwire, and Palmiero will never get in (And I confess, I loved Sammy when he was a Cub), Bonds and Clemens are (or should be) sure fire locks, Ramirez is a maybe, and ARod should but since the NY media has turned on him, he may not. Now, I still think ARod is the best player in baseball, even with all the crap surrounding him. Pujols is damn close, but I believe that Rodriguez is better. If Pujols played for either NY team or Boston, he'd be hailed as the second coming of god himself though. He really is that damn good.

16. I agree with you Bluzmann. I used to tell myself that Sammy had
the kind of frame that it was possible to add bulk to and that his incredible HR increase wasn't a result of steroids. But those days have passed. Sammy really improved from a .220 hitter to a .290 hitter with 30 HR power, but that truly was his peak and his monster years were clearly bullshit. Sammy had a couple of 30/30 years and was a decent player but not HOF worthy. Bonds and Clemens were no-brainer HOFers prior to '98 and that is kind of the standard I set. No roids and those guys get in no prob- Mac, Sammy and Raffy needed those beefy stat years to sniff the HOF so it's a perma no for them.

It should be noted that Sammy never tested positive for steroids and there is only suspicion surrounding him (and 1 corked bat) whereas many of the others have been proven guilty. Technically Sammy is innocent until proven guilty. But when even his fans think he is guilty, it's over for him.

Unlike some prima donna who inherited his name and reputation in the game. At least the prima donna's father didn't cheat.

15. Pete Rose isn't on the list. And I've been very consistent in
saying I think Rose should be in the Hall of Fame.

Along with Barry.

has taken a substantial lead. That's as it should be..Barry was a surefire Hall of Famer before he ALLEGEDLY began using steroids.

24. As I pointed out the other day
if the only thing Bonds did was UNKNOWINGLY take steroids... then he cannot be considered a cheater, just a victim of circumstances.

is (was) a reputable company. Sheesh.

23. I think you should notice that people are saying they think
Bonds will get in eventually...Not that he DESERVES to get in. Me, I think he will (eventually) but I hope he doesn't.
Maybe they will have a section with an asterick on it for him...

times change and witch hunts end. Anyway, Bonds has not been found guilty of anything nor been suspended by baseball.

Of something when there was NO way to test for it.and I hope it's at least 10 years before he goes in..he can be the star of the steroid section of the HOF

30. Bonds was going in before he started juicing.
His numbers are inflated because of the steroids but he'd still be going even if he never used them. Five tool player. Clemens would have been going too, so he probably gets in.
