20. The most logical spot it would seem.
Windsor is too close to Detroit. Ottawa has a team and Toronto is big enough, but they couldn't compete with the Leafs there.

2. Why wouldn't they just go back to Winnipeg? Am I missing something?
Is there someone in Ontario who wants to buy them?

They could also go to Ottawa or Windsor, if they were going to be in Ontario.

3. Check it out
The co-CEO of BlackBerry maker Research In Motion made a US$212.5-million offer to buy the financially ailing Phoenix Coyotes, a deal conditional on moving the Coyotes to Southern Ontario.

8. That would seem silly moving a team literally across a
bridge from Detroit.

Do people from Windsor not support the Red Wings because they're American?

I drove through Windsor on my drive from Detroit to Toronto.

I wasn't impressed.

13. The team would not be in Windsor...
Windsor is very pro-Wings, but, like Detroit, it's been decimated by the collapse of the Auto industry. The Desert Dogs might go to Hamilton ('bout half way between Toronto and Buffalo) where Balsillie's wife is from, or Kitchener/Waterloo, where RIM is based. Hamilton already has an arena, that, with ~$100 million in renovations, would be an acceptable NHL site. In K/W, Balsillie could build a state of the art arena, and there's plenty of room for parking as an additional revenue stream.

The days of hockey in Phoenix, however, are over. I'd be surprised if there is a team there at the start of the 2011/2012 season.

6. All I know is that there should not be a hockey team in the desert. Canada deserves
another team, but Winnipeg is just too small a market. What about Quebec City? If they go too far west in Ontario they will bleed into Deadthing country.

10. If you're going to use that logic, then Anaheim or Los Angeles
doesn't deserve a team since it's actually warmer in Southern California in the winter than it is in the desert where it cools down in the winter.

How about San Jose? It's certainly not cold there in the winter.

How about the Florida teams?

If Canada wants another team, then talk to the NHL about expansion.

Phoenix actually out-drew Atlanta and the NY Islanders this season, and barely finished behind Nashville, Colorado, Columbus, Florida and New Jersey.

9. I'll just go on record again as saying I'm not a big fan of
moving teams out of cities.

It should be up to the league to figure out why a team is wanting to move and then providing the help necessary to come up with solutions to keep them there.

The NBA is heavily involved in finding a way for the Kings to build a new arena in Sacramento to replace the dump they play in, and keep them moving to Anaheim or Las Vegas, where the owners own the Palms Casino.

Phoenix is a major sports mecca and it deserves an NHL team.

I'm still burned up about the Seattle Sonics, and I have no association to the state of Washington.

15. Correction:
It deserved the opportunity to have an NHL team. Like Winnipeg, like Atlanta in the 1980s and like even my beloved hometown of Hartford, Connecticut it had that opportunity and it blew it.

Screw Phoenix.

11. I miss having a team in Winnipeg for the ice alone.
There was no better surface in the NHL than the Winnipeg Arena.

And if I was a Leafs fan I'd be dying for another option. :)

21. The rumor was Hamilton, like it always is
But I don't think they could draw there. I think Winnipeg would be a good place. The Western Plain should have a team. I also wonder if Halifax or PEI could support a team.
