Dodgers roll to franchise-record 10-0 home start
For those of you on the west coast who are just getting back from beach and surfing...

LOS ANGELES (AP) -The Dodgers have been in business since 1890, and they never won their first 10 home games - until now.

Chad Billingsley completed seven innings for the third straight start, Orlando Hudson drove in three runs with a pair of doubles and Los Angeles set a club record Sunday with a 7-3 victory over the San Diego Padres .

''It's great. I don't think I've ever done that,'' said Hudson, who set the tone for this streak by hitting for the cycle in the home opener. ''It couldn't have happened to me in Toronto because we had to face Boston and New York so much, and I don't think we did it in Arizona because we had to face the Dodgers a lot. So it definitely feels great.''

The 10-0 start at Chavez Ravine eclipsed the mark set at Ebbets Field by the 1946 Brooklyn Dodgers, when current manager Joe Torre was 5 years old and growing up on Avenue T in the Marine Park section of the borough.

1. Joe Torre is a great coach...
...but he is past his prime...the Dodgers will excell all season, then bow out early in the play-offs due to Torre's boneheaded calls.

7. What bonehead calls?
All Torre has to do is the same thing has has done so far. Trot out basically the same lineup every game while giving certain players occasional days off and it's epic win for Dodger Blue. There would be no reason to change anything in the playoffs.

Their pitching, while far from perfect, has been pretty damn good. PRETTY PRETTY PRETTY good as Larry David would say.

They have also tied the NL record for home start and need two more wins to tie the major league record. It only gets easier from here....Arizona then Washington then the midgets. Could be 17-0 by the time this home stand ends.

8. Pulled Lowe in Game 4 against Philly...
...no reason for it, they lost the game, pretty much ensuring Philly would win the series...and that's only 1 year at LA...let's go back to his final years in NY...

9. He reminds me a little of Phil Jackson
Anyhow the Dodger pitching staff reminds me of the sort of staffs they've had for the past 10 or 15 years: one bright young pitcher, mixed in with some promising youngsters who won't end up achieving as much as once thought, journeymen, and jackasses on the DL eating salary.

If Kuroda comes back healthy and Bills remains healthy, the Dodgers are going to keep winning like they are currently, for their bullpen is pretty damned solid. Broxton is lights out, Troncoso and Belisario have been workhorses, and Jeff Weaver is going to be added to that mix.
