Chris Webber traded to 76ers.
PHILADELPHIA -- All-Star Chris Webber was traded from Sacramento to the Philadelphia 76ers late Wednesday night as part of a stunning six-player deal.

The Sixers sent Brian Skinner, Kenny Thomas and Corliss Williamson to the Kings for Webber, Matt Barnes and Michael Bradley.

The Sixers called a news conference just before midnight. The deal comes one day before the NBA trading deadline.

All I know about basketball you can fit in a rat's teacup. Tell me basketball fans, is this good for the Sixers?

2. My view (worth what you paid for it)
CWebb's a gamble. If his knee holds together he'd provide some offensive power but he's a very streaky shooter and not the guy to take the last second shot if you plan on winning. That's okay for Philly because AI is a machine and having another offensive threat on the floor to spread out the defense makes him more dangerous.

How's the soul food in Philly? Expect whining if it isn't readily availible in whatever moated albino community he buys a house in, or if the press asks about his personal life (for the record, dating a supermodel and expecting privacy is *dumb*) or if anyone criticizes his play or attitude. He pouts a lot and is prone to injury.

He's got a great smile and when he applies himself and plays agressively he's a good player. Way overpriced, though.

I hope the salary this trade frees up makes some magic happen. :)

3. The soul food is great in Philly.
In fact all the food in Philly is great but I'm sure he'll be living in New Jersey, nearly all the athletes live there. He'll have to go into the city to get something other than chain restaurant food.

If he has a problem with media he isn't going to like it here very much I'm afraid. No town is tougher on the sports teams than Philly. If he plays hard though he'll get respect. All anyone asks of the players here is that they bust it every game. If you dog it, you'll get run out of town.

Everyone here seems pretty excited about it. I may have to tune in a few games and check him out.

4. It's the first time
AI has had a major player with him.

IMO, CWebb is soft. There's a reason the Kings were willing to give him up for lesser names. This will help Phillie, but not as much as people think.

6. He can also get great soul food in Camden
if he can find it on his drive in from his Vorhees mansion.

5. Webber is on his last legs
This is a deal that sounds better on paper than it does on the court. Will Webber help? Maybe, but don't expect a title.

This isn't the 1995 version of Chris Webber. This version can barely jump.

I say Philly is now a slight favorite to win the Atlantic Division, but they're no lock to get out of the first round come playoff time.
