Alex Rodriguez to Have Surgery to Remove Cyst
By JACK CURRY

Published: March 5, 2009

Alex Rodriguez, the Yankees’ third baseman, will have surgery Monday to remove a cyst on his right hip and will probably require 10 weeks to rehabilitate, according to ESPN Deportes.

“This is a strong blow to the entire family,” Joe Rodriguez, Alex’s brother, told the Spanish-language news site. “Alex is devastated.”

“We were all enthusiastically looking forward to watching him play for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic,” he added.

Rodriguez was scheduled to play for the Dominican Republic in the tournament, which started Thursday, but he left the team on Tuesday and flew to Vail, Colo., to have a cyst on his hip examined. Dr. Marc Philippon, a leading orthopedic hip surgeon, examined Rodriguez and determined that he needed surgery.

The Dominican team’s general manager said he had not received any news about Rodriguez’s examination in Colorado, ESPN Deportes reported.

The Yankees declined to comment on the report, and Manager Joe Girardi said he was unaware that Rodriguez would require surgery. General Manager Brian Cashman did not immediately responded to a telephone message.

3. Reminds me of Lyle Alzado...admitted to steroids and got brain cancer and
died young. This cyst may be totally unrelated, but as Bonds and A-Hole and the other roiders age, theyr bodies are in trouble...that's why they need to be punished, because kids look up to these twits, and it's endangering those lives as well.

5. Need I remind you
that only A-Fraud (not Bonds) has admitted to knowingly injecting steroids.

10. That's true, at least A-Rod fessed up (somewhat) when he was caught...
...Bonds apparently thinks little of the human race to believe most of us believe his crap.

9. Hey juror #7, why do you keep convicting my client before you
review any of the evidence?

That's what Bonds' lawyers would ask you repeatedly, right before the judge throws you out of the courthouse.

6. I'd rather have it be early in the season than late.
He'll be healed in time for the Yankees to win the World Series! :) :bounce:
