This is the first New Year's Day that I payed more attention to a hockey game than any football game

What's going on? The big bowl games are yet to come. Even the Cotton Bowl was moved to tomorrow. The Orange Bowl has gone to hell. The Rose Bowl was a bust. The only exciting game was the Gator Bowl and I hate Nebraska.

Very odd. The game was great on TV but it looked as though the rink was miles away from the seats for the live spectators.

I certainly hope not. 'Cause then I'd have to hate 'em. And that would suck majorly, since they're the best damn hockey team at least since the Mario Lemieux-era Penguins. Until Babcock comes out as a Tom Landry-worshiping freak, I'll be chowing down on an order of hot Wings -- Detroit-style, not Buffalo -- every week or two through the playoffs!

5. It was a great game! I watched most of it on CBC

But it was fun to hear Bob Costas afterwards - except he brought up Michael Jordan; are Detroit fans never going to be free from that a**hole?

Look for every team to be dumping opposing players into their benches.
