Stop the Fight! Stop the Fight!
This time, hard to find a ray of hope.

No more baseball bacchanal at the ancient ballyard.

The Red Sox last night were annihilated again by the Tampa Bay Rays. Final score: 13-4. Fenway was so quiet you could hear a dynasty drop. And that was in the first inning.

There was more noise at Widener Library. There were more laughs, backslaps, and good times at Bill Belichick's daily press briefing in Foxborough. Watching this game was like reading your 401(k) statement.:spray:

The Sox aren't officially dead yet, but Fenway Park is already a morgue. Six feet under. So bad. So bad. So bad.

3. Oh they all run and hide when their teams fail.
But they're the first to line up for trash talk when they WIN, of course!

6. Yeah, you're the exception to the rule.
I forgot that you're in here win or lose. :)

5. Actually, it's pretty fucking funny stuff.
I'm sure there are some Sox fans weeping today, but I'm not one of them. I predicted the Rays would win, so this is hardly a surprising development to me. And it's only baseball, so how upset can I get? It's not like when the Bruins lost to Montreal....again. Now THAT pisses me off. x(

Besides, the Rays are the year's best story. Hard to get upset when you see a team do what they've done.

9. I still have nightmares about too many men on the ice.
If you're old enough to remember that. :)

10. Old enough? It's a miracle I didn't kill myself.
Or the refs.

The hatred runs deep. :)

2. Sad but true
It was a bad game. I was at the game on Monday and that was not pleasant either.

I'm actually surprised the Sox got past the Angels. This may be just another one of those "wait til next year" years.

8. Tampa beat 'em like a drum...
I'm hoping for the last time. I still think the Sox CAN win, though I'm not overly optimistic about their chances. The Rays are playing great ball. For some reason, poundings like that seem worse on TV than in person. I'm not sure why, maybe it's because you have the option to watch something else, but can't seem to pull yourself away from the train-wreck. I was at the 2004 ALCS game 3 when the Yankees beat the holy hell out of the Sox 19-8 and it didn't seem that bad (and that was to the hated Yankees).

Luckily I also got to go to games 4 and 5 back then.
