CHHF rips ESPN's Monday Night BrettFavre
Ouch

Oh, yeah, Jets fans, that Miami quarterback that beat New England Sunday? Remember him?

1. What kind of idiot thought the Jets were going to win last night anyways?
Sounds like the writer just hates Favre and is stretching to find a reason to trash him, because doing so is suddenly the hip thing to do.

4. They're fairly consistent criticizing him
They point out (correctly) that he has been largely overhyped for the past few years in the league, primarily because he was so incredible during the mid-1990's.

They do have him listed as the #10 quarterback of all time. I'm a Packer fan, but I'm sick of the Favre cult as well.

5. Oh, he's totally overhyped now.

There's only a small handful of established marketable QBs in the League right now, and he happens to be one of them. But I try not to hold how the League markets a guy against the guy (to an extent). Most of the time the player has nothing to do with how they use him to sell the game. They just go with who puts the most asses in the seats and in front of the tv's, and that's almost always the best players.

Overall, I've always felt he's been an above average, at times excellent, QB. The argument that some make about him throwing too many picks doesn't really hold us when compared to the touchdown to interception ratio of Hall of Fame QBs. At the worst, the pick ratio is slightly higher than a few of the greats, and at best it's way better than some of these guys (what's up with Namath?!?!).

Favre - 448 - 291
Marino - 420 -252
Montana - 272 - 139
Young - 232 - 107
Starr - 152 - 132
Staubach - 153 - 109
Bradshaw 212 -210
Kelly - 237 - 175
Namath - 173 - 220
Unitas - 290 - 253
Elway - 300 - 226

But it still seemed like the writer has a bit of a grudge to me.

6. He WAS one pass from a third Superbowl.
That doesn't seem like a lot of hype.

7. A pass that was an interception. In overtime.
For Packer fans, it's a sight all too familiar in the past few years from Brett - trying to force things to happen, then things happen for the other team.
