Tennis Thread...*****SPOILER*****
Congrats to Andy Murray, even though I've never really liked him for some reason. Anyway, I like Nadal less, so this is a good thing. I was sure, however, the delay was going to help Nadal...he'd be rested and Andy would lose the momentum. I was wrong. I don't know who will win tomorrow. Roger looked great yesterday, but his whole season has been sporadic, and Murray beat him the one time they've played this year. What do YOU think?

1. I actually like Andy Murray.....but I think the maestro gets another US Open title.
Murray will make it tough, but like Djokovic last year, I think he'll be awestruck by being in the final and lose to Fed in 4.

2. I also thought the rain delay would help Jelena as she really
only has endurance as a weapon, and she can wear others down...this gave her a rest, although I think Serena will win easily.

I hope Roger wins...it's been a tough year for him.

3. It was a great win for Murray.
He has so much potential and now it seems like he's finally putting it all together. I thought it was tougher for Murray to come back after the rain delay, I always think it works in the favor of the person that is trailing. Great, gritty win for Murray although I think Federer wins on Monday.

4. I think Roger will take it
Tiger has bailed out his season a couple of times by salvaging the final major, including last year.

I would have picked Nadal to defeat Roger in 4, but vs. Murray it seems like Fed should find a way. He probably got a boost out of winning a gold medal, even if it was in doubles. Fed really seemed moved during the Swiss anthem.

Yesterday I watched the tennis but today I missed Murray closing it out. Right now I'm hoping Jankovic can take this to a 3rd set and deny Serena.

6. Jankovic can't close out anything vs. Serena
Triple set point on Serena's serve. Gone. Then she failed to hold serve to win the set. She led 5-3 and doesn't win another game. Pathetic.

It reminded me of the Key Biscayne final. Other players step up vs. Serena but Jankovic fails on the big points, and in general gets overpowered.

Well, congrats to Serena. I hate it when she wins anything at this bulk.

16. Thanks
Good point. I missed that match and didn't know the specifics. Clutch tournament for Serena.

But she should be dominating in this mush era. When the likes of Jankovic, Sharapova and Ivanovic are competing for #1 it's absurd that Serena isn't two levels higher than any of them.

10. I am so happy Serena won!
And now she's No. 1 again! She earned it. :bounce: Although the women's game is down, Serena has really worked hard the last year. Congrats Serena. :toast:

12. You forget Virginia Wade who won the US Open, in, I believe, 1968 and
then Wimbledom in 1977.

14. He's only 21 and Roger isn't as dominant as he has been, so that
leaves the door open, and I also think Nadal will never dominate like Roger has, so Andy will have more chances in the future, just like Novak...I think those 2 are right behind Nadal and Federer, and then there's a big drop-off.
