Favre asks Pack for his release
rett Favre asked the Packers to release him so he can return to the NFL with another team after apparently being told his latest retirement reversal wasn't welcome news in Green Bay.

The team said it would do "what's right" in response to Favre's request, which was first reported by ESPN.

"Brett earned and exercised the right to retire on his terms," the team's statement said.

"We wanted him to return and welcomed him back on more than one occasion. Brett's press conference and subsequent conversations in the following weeks illustrated his commitment to retirement. The finality of his decision to retire was accepted by the organization. At that point, the Green Bay Packers made the commitment to move forward with our football team."

Releasing Favre presents the possibility that he will sign with NFC North rivals Minnesota or Chicago, where he would be an upgrade over the incumbent QBs. If the Packers traded him, there would be teams outside the division such as Baltimore or Tampa Bay, and perhaps Washington, that would be interested. There also has been speculation he could go to Miami for disgruntled defensive end Jason Taylor, the 2006 defensive player of the year.

1. I'm A Vikes Fan
but I always had respect for Favre. That is until know. He is just another attention whore who should just go away. He could of played another year but that decision should have been made months age. Not now.

2. gotta love the protesting!
funny stuff from the Serious Sports News Network on the Favre protest...

PETA protests Favre's return

GREEN BAY, WI -- A protest by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals went horribly awry on Monday, leaving many longtime supporters confused and thousands of Brett Favre fans furious. Soon after the group gathered outside of Lambeau Field, it quickly became apparent that no one was exactly sure what they were protesting...

3. No way should they give it to him.
They should trade him out of conference to a team they will not be playing this year. And if he doesn't like it, tough shit, stay retired. He's under contract.

4. Favre figured out how to get out of Green Bay
without looking like he wants out of Green Bay. He puts the management in a tough spot and then forces them to push him out. I think he knew what he was doing all along.

5. I think you might be right
And as a Vikings fan, I hope they just release him and the Vikes pick him up. I know there is more chance that I get picked as the Vikes QB than that happening, but I can always daydream in the summer can't I?
