Big Brown is a great horse. And I pick him to win. But there is only one Big . . .
. . . his nickname was Big Red.

Secretariat. I'm old enough to remember him winning the Belmont, and my jaw dropping to the floor. Remarkable moment, in 1973. I remember where I was. Remarkable.

1. He was not only an awesome athlete
but could have gone in the show ring. He was beautiful.

7. Me too.
And I used to love to watch them run. That was when I was naive about the industry. It took a couple of beautiful horses who are no longer with us to open my eyes.

10. I remember this race vividly. What I remember most is that when
Secretariat came on the field the crowd booed him like crazy. Why would you boo a beautiful animal that has done what was asked and expected from him? Everyone said he's never make the distance so when he won by 32 lengths, I thought "show them, Big Guy". He was one in a million.

11. I don't remember the booing, but I remember Secretariat. Greatest horse ever.
Most beloved in my lifetime, too.
