Is Detroit this year's sports powerhouse?
red wings looking good.

pistons looking good.

tigers are SUPPOSED to look good..."experts" are guaranteeing they will.

The lions...oh shit, so much for my theory!

1. Three out of four is pretty darn good
And don't forget the Shock.

But...it will go ignored because only East or West Coast teams are supposed to win championships. That's what "America wants" I've heard.

Too bad -- Go Detroit!

2. I think the Red Wings have the best chance to win it all...
...this from a non-hockey fan. I can't see the Pistons doing it, and even though the experts are telling me it's Detroit's year, we're a month in and still it ain't happening.

Shock? Don't you mean i should BE shocked?

6. Shock is Detroit's WBNA team -- two championships in four years
And nobody should count the Pistons out. Their record against Western Conference teams is pretty good. They can't seem to ever beat the Jazz but they're out, right?

4. Well, they'll probably make the East finals...
...although I agree with what I think is your point is that there are more really good teams in the West?

19. Actually, Detroit was 22-8 vs. the West this year.
That's a .733 percentage.

The Lakers were 37-15 vs. West (best record of West vs. West).

That's a .711 percentage.

So where does the 6th place Piston finish in the west figure in?

The Celtics and Pistons were the 2 best teams in the NBA, period!

10. I honestly thought last night
That the Tigers were going to beat the Sox.

Dice-K is still battling his flu bug and seemed to have no control of the ball for most of the night and walked 8 batters

What is going on with the Tigers?

12. Disarray
They haven't solidified the infield, the pitching hasn't been up to speed, and the hitters aren't in synch. They are also playing inconsistently.

Other than that, everything's fine.

13. It might just be sentimental of me
But it feels like the team is just cobbled together without a bigger plan than throwing talented people together and hoping for the best. I miss Monroe and Casey, guys who are good for clubhouse chemistry. To me, the Tigers seemed best when they were like the Pistons--scruffy underdogs--than when they play big money-ball and pretend they're the Sox or Yankees.

14. I don't think that's entirely true (I miss Monroe too)
I really think a lot of the problems have to do with the underperformance of the infield, and some pitching injuries.

I think it's also hurt them not to have Casey. I would have tried to re-sign him.

They also haven't had a day off in forever.

15. Not the Tigers
Their team does not have much talent. The rest of teams you mentioned have a legitimate shot.

18. Welcome!
I don't know how good their players are---I just kept hearing from the experts prior to the season that they were going to win it all this year.

to predict the red Wings. Good for me!
