Sports merchandise... why do people spend money on it? Is it worth it?
Just wondering...

Christmas weekend I went to the 49er's game. Toward the end, cheerleaders were running around giving away signed 49er game jerseys and my brother got one, which he gave to me. (he's the man and a fellow DUer :7)

So now I have this nice football jersey - it goes for $209.99!!!!! :wow::crazy::wow::crazy::wow:

Interesting, especially since it probably only cost less than $10 to make. If I hadn't gotten it out of luck, there's no way in hell I'd spend that kind of money for any sports memorabilia. The prices charged for hats are ridiculous as it is, so much so, that I have a difficult time understanding why some people blow bucks on shit like that. Am I mad?

3. It's worth more if he actually wore it in a game.
Especially if signed.

5. It does seem odd, I suppose.
Strangely (maybe), the most serious sports fans that I know don't buy much and don't wear much (if any). I dunno. Why do people buy concert T-shirts? Why do people buy clothing with the name brand printed boldly for all to see? It's an identity thing of sorts. A way to belong.

7. $209 isn't bad, I paid $275 for my official White jersey this year.
I have the Green and the White and next season I'm getting the Black one. I like having all the gear when I go to the game, the 12th man should dress the part.
