4. Actually, it might be colder in Boston that day.
Depends how quickly the low can move out and the high can set it.

Almost as bad as a Red Sox fan pulling for the Yankees.

16. Indeed
The Packers are a team parents wouldn't be afraid to let their team watch as they can be considered positive role models and awful damn fun to watch. The Pack-Giants game should be a lot of fun.

13. You did pull for the Bears last year, Fish
You're a class act. Favre looks 15 years younger. Hope it's snowin' in GB on Sunday. A couple of friends of mine are making the trek. Good luck (although I don't think you'll need it). Not looking ahead, but it'll be a great SB this year.

He never plays well in the cold. But who knows, Giants weren't suppose to get this far but they did. Let's go Giants! :bounce:

and consume some Jack Black anti-freeze before the game. I doubt any DUers go back that far.

23. How far do you go back?
I've only seen the Giants play once live, and that was in 1971 against the Redskins. Fran Tarkenton was the QB. Tucker Fredrickson was the RB. Injuries had pretty much ruined Tucker's career by then. Fran was later traded to Minnesota.

28. Bobby Layne use to get sauced before games.
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 07:01 PM by Elwood P Dowd
He played back in the 1940s and 1950s. Former Redskin QB Billy Kilmer had a similar reputation, though he was nowhere near as notorious as Layne.

19. Are you really buying a forecast an entire week in
advance, if indeed that's what they're calling for?

The weather people can barely tell you what it's going to be like two days from now, let alone seven! lol

20. When it comes to these long cold snaps in the upper midwest,
it's about as close to a certainty as one can get in the forecasting department. The jet stream dips down, a system in Alaska pushes more cold air into Canada, and a parked Low over eastern Canada funnels it all down. Very stable, very cold. 3rd week in January is very typically the coldest time of year in Minnesota, and I assume next door in Wisconsin.

26. BTW, bad weather helps the Giants
Last time I checked NYC isn't exactly a tropical paradise this time of year. As we saw between Chicago and Green Bay a few weeks ago and Baltimore and New England in November, bad weather neutralizes teams. The Packers are better. Bad weather helps the worse team.

27. Interesting, I've never heard that theory before
I think it effects each team equally. It hurts passing teams and special teams equally, but not a team that can run the ball effectively. I honestly dont know if the Packers are a better team than the Giants. We'll find out at the end of the game

Phillips is saying the Cowboys were the better team on Sunday, yet they lost. Not much sense ,that.

30. The weather didn't neutralize Packers-Seahawks
Green Bay covered the spread, and then some.

Seattle couldn't run the ball, Green Bay did.

Whoever can run the Sunday obviously has a greater advantage.

33. Now they're saying the high will be about 4-5 degrees
It will probably be around 2-3 at kickoff and probably below zero by the end.

Dress warmly!
