ANNAPOLIS, Md., March 9 — The night that Sylvia Mackey and Eleanor Perfetto first met, back in October at a Baltimore Ravens reception for former National Football League players and their families, their connection was immediate. As she sat on a couch with her husband, Mrs. Mackey watched Dr. Perfetto cradle the hand of her husband as he blankly shuffled across the floor toward the Mackeys.

I can't imagine what these two women are going through. They're seeing their once vital husbands waste away. Unfortunately for these two gentlemen and other veterans, the head trama injuries happened before there was any real safety equipment. Without the contributions of these two gentlemen and their fellow veterans, the NFL would not be what it is today.

2. Oh, how sad

And think how much worse it will be when the dementia is coupled with ravaged bodies from the after effects of performance enhancing drugs.
