1. I picked Connecticut
I believe in preseason ratings more than regular season results. This year there was plenty of discrepancy in the women's preseason ratings, but Connecticut was generally the lowest rated among these four.

2. Connecticut

I think Connecticut is the weakest of the number 1 seeds. However, It could be Tennessee in that if someone can find a way to stop Candice Parker or Parker has a bad night Tennessee can be beaten.

3. I agree that Tennessee is vulnerable.

Additionally, they may be playing Pitt in Pittsburgh in the second round.

4. I'll pick Duke since their bracket is the candy ass bracket
Boy how would I love Rutgers or Stanford knock them off.

I don't think Duke has the mettle to take it all the way.

5. UConn
Just cause I hate them.

But they are the weakest of the #1s, imo....they don't play a very good schedule and they didn't beat a quality opponent this year, imo....

6. Hmmm...I gues LSU doesn't count...
...and two wins against Rutgers doesn't either.

I think I'll go with NC since no one else has!

7. The women's bracket is sooooo thin...
None of the top seeds have to play anyone until the third game. All the number ones will still be there after this weekend. No truly big upsets until the sweet sixteen, and maybe not even then.

8. Very true, much more imbalance
I bet the women's games every year and the pointspreads are massive. There have been a couple above 60 over the years in the opening round. Plus the top seeds get to play at home. Only a handful of examples of teams seeded very high losing in the first two rounds. Stanford did lose to Harvard one year at home in an incredible upset, something like a 28 point favorite.

10. oddly enough, there were more upsets in the women's than the men
at least the women slipped a double-digit seed into the sweet 16, though I suspect Marist's run will end tomorrow against Tennessee.

11. Rutgers was a 12 point underdog
Like an idiot I didn't take the points but I was thrilled Duke lost.

12. Great game--really bizarre finish...
...All Rutgers had to do was inbound it, couldn't do that, then Duke couldn't make one of the two freethrows.

In a way it shouldn't surprise me...if Duke couldn't win with Alana Beard, they're never gonna win it all.

A Duke loss in any sport is cause for celebration!
