Chris Webber appears headed to Detroit
http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070113/SPORTS03/701130366/1048/BUSINESS05&GID=YyB0jORlH76iXJO7X9j4n7DuI0a0Or0lbiLV78l0xrw%3D

Chris Webber can't officially become a Piston until after the three-day weekend, but a team source said Friday afternoon a deal was nearly done to bring the Detroit native home.

ESPN.com was reporting Friday night that Webber would not make a decision about his new team before today, but it still seems likely that by next week, the Pistons will start the former Michigan and Birmingham Detroit Country Day star alongside Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince, Richard Hamilton and Chauncey Billups.

Coach Flip Saunders said he couldn't comment on any specifics regarding Webber's decision, but said any team would hope he brings 20 points and 10 rebounds -- "what he did last year."

The Philadelphia 76ers waived Webber, a 33-year-old former All-Star, on Thursday. He must clear waivers before he can sign with a new team, a two-business-day waiting period that ends Tuesday because of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Monday.

1. A fantastic player completely underappreciated
I've been a Webber fan since the Fab Five started. Interesting that is was basically Mitch Album getting them together and showing them that there was this monster Big 10 program just waiting for 5 news starters and they did the rest(and this is coming from a OSU fan).

These 18 year olds made it to the finals two years in a row and then they all took off but still that is pretty interesting.

Good to see that he gets to finish at home. The Pistons just moved up a notch in the hierarchy.

2. He has some serious fence mending to do
With we Michigan alumni who have not forgiven him for dragging our beloved university through the mud. He's never apologized.

I'm a major Pistons fan and I'm willing to be shown but I don't want the whiny, self important guy who left here. I want a grown up who acknowledges his missteps and tries to make amends. And a team player.
