Why didn't the Cowboys let Alexander score with a minute to go?
He was on his way and Dallas would have gotten the ball back, down by 7 or 8 (or 9) with a minute left. The alternative was to let the Hawks run the clock out? It would have been a possibility.

4. snarf...
I gotta say...that I can't stand the midget. He kicks an extra point and jumps around like he kicked a game winning kick.

5. Technically, Alexander could have just ran it to about the 5 then stopped.
He probably wouldn't have scored even if he had a good chance to.

6. Trust me, I was worried about it
I had Dallas +3, as part of that yards per pass attempt differential angle. As soon as they flubbed the FG I was concerned they would feign tackling. Luckily Dallas still had 3 time outs so the immediate concern was making a stop and they never adjusted when Alexander burst through the line.

Maybe 5 or 6 years ago I got a massive break when Washington idiotically tackled the Tampa Bay backs 3 straight times in a first round playoff game while down by 1 point in the final two minutes. It was incredible yet the announcers cluelessly never mentioned the strategy of allowing a score and being down by 8. That was the same situation sinceI had +3 or 4 points and a TD run would have burned me.
