Wake-up call for morning finals - Olympic swimming
Proof that the IOC has dollars rather than athletes as it's prime objective.

"Verbruggen said the IOC executive board had agreed to the scheduling changes after "a thorough consultation process", despite opposition from Olympic broadcasters around the world, led by the Seven Network. Even the International Swimming Federation, which is not known for taking stands against the establishment, admitted it preferred evening finals.

But Verbruggen denied that the IOC had put commercial considerations before the best interests of the athletes.

"I would like to deny that," he said. "For me this is not a statement that represents truth.

"There can never be a perfect 'one size fits all' solution which suits each and every stakeholder equally, but the IOC decision has endeavoured to find the best balance for the Olympic movement as a whole."

But you guys in the states don't get that much live coverage of Olympics??? anyway. My understanding is that NBC packages a series of highlights only involving US athletes. So why fuck up years of training for athletes for some bucks about a sport most in the US have little interest in - unless of course the US is winning gold medals.
