The Phillies - HomeRun Champions of the All Star Break
Last year Bobby Abreau, this year Ryun Howard, the Phillies first baseman who was rookie of the year last year. The Thome trade looks pretty good now for both teams.

1. What has Rowan done so far?
Besides eating walls I mean. The Chi Sox are rolling along and the Phillies aren't. I think Thome would look pretty good in a Phillies uniform, except he apparently can't play out in the field anymore. That being said, I think that so far, the Sox got the best of the deal.

2. The Phillies
have at least broken even at first base and Howard has years ahead of him. Thome is a great offensive asset but he's on the backend of his career. I don't believe Thome is the only reason the Sox are rolling along. They are a much better team then the Phillies.

3. Since they can't win anything else we'll have to take this.
And then that imbecile Giles has to ruin the whole thing and steal all of Howard's thunder with his idiotic statements. Pathetic.

4. did you ever take a look at our Media Guide?
There are owners of this team of whom I have never heard, and I've been a phillies fan for 50 years. I mean people other than Montgomery and Giles. There is some big big money here that no one ever talks about.

Whoo knows what the influence is there as well.

we suck again...

5. My brother has worked for the Phils for 20 years.
So I am aware of the other owners. They like to keep a low profile and just collect the cash. This team is never going to win until they sell and that isn't going to happen for a long time yet.

6. We lived six blocks from Connie Mack on Somerset
My grandfather was an usher for the Phillies games and I got in free after the third inning. Those were the days, Johnny Callison, Tony Gonzalez, Clay Dalrymple, Don Demeter, Chris Short, Art Mahaffey. We used to sell the parking lot in front of our house on game nights. Now I live in South Mississippi but have a mini shrine to Mike Schmidt in my garage.

8. Oh My
I had a transistor radio and I listened to all the Phillies away games on either WFIL or WIBG. Late in the season I knew each loss meant nothing, the Phils were going to the World Series. Hell, they even printed up the tickets. I still need therapy for the 64 season. God rest your soul Gene Mauch.
