Beckham places it nearly perfectly on a free kick at 2:47 - Gamarra, trying to deflect, gets an 'own goal'.

1. It was a slight glance off a defender
The Paraguayan captain, I think. To add to their problems, the goalie injured himself rushing to kick a loose ball, and their sub is on.

2. Yep. Gamarra defending, deflected it.
Beckham's kick would've placed it in the corner and Gamarra's header wasn't quite enough to deflect ot to the goalie.

3. Paraguay not looking good in the first 20 minutes.

Showing frustration with one another ... no 'flow' ... fragmented and going too much to the long ball rather than short, coordinated play. England is all over them and they're not adjusting. Missing passes to the wings and getting OB's.

4. The game finished 1-0
England did not play well in the second half. Still, a win is a win and judging by the commotion I could hear from my house I suspect most of us Engish are happy with 3 lovely shiny points.
