Dallas v. Miami in NBA Finals
It is final the Dallas Mavericks who finished their series with the Phoenix Suns tonight will face the Miami Heat in the NBA finals. It seems like this will be a good match up.

of the '71 Super Bowl.

I'll root for a different result but the home team has a huge edge, IMO, with the 2-3-2 format. Win the first two and no way you can lose the series on the road, completely different than 2-2-1-1-1. Also, very difficult for the home team to sweep the middle three, although I realize Detroit did it to the Lakers. 2-3-2 puts a heavy burden on the road team to win at least one of the first two, then take at least two of three at home.

3. I turned the TV off to put my daughter to bed in the late 1st quarter
thinking, "ah... this is a blowout." Who'da thunk the Mavs would overcome that whipping???

4. I'm just waiting for the "blue-staters" to start whining.
Teams located in the two most reviled states in the union here (at times) are playing for a championship. Oh, the humanity. :eyes:

By the way, I'm obligated to want the Mavericks to win. I'm an Avery guy. He helped my Spurs win it all, and he's a decent guy.

9. That would be me!
But you will be shocked to hear that I actually hope the Mavs beat the Heat. I can't stand Shaq and I can't stand Wade. I would prefer to be able to root for a blue state - naturally! Especially since Texas won the Rose Bowl and Florida won the NCAAs ---- the karma doesn't seem fair.

5. I don't think the Mavs can stop D-Wade
either. He's in rare air.

Heat in six.

12. I'm rooting for the Pistons
I don't care that they didn't make it to the finals. They're my team; I'm rooting for them anyway.

Jerry Stackhouse is a former Piston and I always liked him. So, if I have to pick a team I'll take the Mavs just because of that. And, like Lisa M., I have never been a fan of Shaq or Dwyane or however his name is spelled. Even before the Pistons-Heat rivalry.

13. As a Laker-hater...
I hope Miami wins: Shaq with a trophy is a sight the Kobe Kool-Aid crowd will be eating their little hearts out over.
