If the Patriots beat the Broncos, they will win the Super Bowl

A wild idea.

If if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if the Patriots beat the Broncos...a HUGE 'if'...

...we will have gone into an unfriendly house and won. That will be in Peyton Manning's head.

Add this:

The Colts have to play the Steelers, and the Steelers are a stomp-you-in-the-throat tough-ass bloody team. I believe the Colts will beat the Steelers, but I think they will bleed for it. Badly.

So.

Colts v. Pats, with a banged-up Colts team, and with the Pats living in Manning's head.

Pats win. Go on to kill any NFC team put forth.

If if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if the Pats can beat the Broncos in Denver.

HUGE GAME.

Just sayin'.

1. The Broncos 8-0 at Home
As are the Seahawks. The Colts can't say that (the loss to San Diego came at home). So, if the Patriots win under the lights at Mile High, they'll go to the Super Bowl. But it's going to be a big task. Sure, the Broncos haven't won a playoff game in seven years, but they also haven't played one in Denver for that long. And you better believe the city will be pumped for that one. Not to mention what happened to the Pats the last time these two teams played.

There's probably no bigger game in the playoffs. And if it happens that the Broncos knock off the champs, then they've got their own demons to deal with -- a road game at Indy, where they've gotten creamed the past two years. There's part of me that wants to see Indy win against Pittsburgh -- if Denver wins -- so that they can get some measure of revenge. But then there's that rational voice: this offense is far too powerful and though Denver is improved on defense (Darrent Williams and Domonique Foxworth were two great pickups in the draft), they still don't have a great pass rush, which gives Manning plenty of time to find one of his many targets. They've got to like their chances against Pittsburgh -- Denver's run defense is one of the best in the league -- better than Indy.

if if if ... if if if

Considering how very big that if is, you should probably use capitol letters. And a larger font wouldn't hurt either ;)

4. Kill = dead
Name for me please an NFC team that lived past 0.00 since 2001 against the Pats in a Super Bowl game.

Kill = dead.

A killing is the Seahawks-Eagles MNF game. Ouch.

Winning by 3 points? Nuh-uh.

The Broncos aren't going to make it easy but my money is on the 10-0 QB and the coach with the best ever record in the playoffs.

14. Bears will beat the Pats 46-10 in SB XXXX.
With or without mini-Ditka and mini-Lovie.

In other news, the Bears will enter the Indy 500 with a bus and win, with mini-Ditka steering and shifting, and mini-Lovie handling the peddles. (The ghosts of mini-Papa Bear Halas and mini-Sweetness smile in the rearview mirror ala Return of the Jedi.)

Sorry guys, just havin' some fun!

I don't know how many games it would take the Bears to score 46 points with this year's offense.

this is the Colts year and it benefits them that they won't play the Pats in this round. They'll be back up to full speed after whipping the Steelers this week.

22. Patriots KEYS to Victory
Edited on Fri Jan-13-06 03:45 PM by SpiralHawk
cribbed from the Pats home page...

http://www.patriots.com/news/index.cfm?ac=generalnewsdetail&pid=15072&pcid=47

1/12/06
Patriots keys to victory against the Broncos Tom Casale, Patriots Football Weekly

Here are some of the things the Patriots need to do in order to continue their march towards history.

1. Beat the blitz
The Broncos blitz as much as any team in the NFL and Bill Belichick confirmed that earlier this week at one of his press conferences. They blitz even more when they don’t respect their opponents running game.

2. Stop the Broncos running game
It just doesn’t get any simpler than this. Everything the Broncos do on offense is predicated off their running game. Teams that shut down the run against Denver – and that hasn’t been very often – have beaten them. The Broncos ran for almost 200 yards in the first meeting but let’s be honest, that game doesn’t even count. The Patriots were playing without Richard Seymour, Tedy Bruschi and Ellis Hobbs had yet to enter the starting lineup.

3. Try and slow down Rod Smith
In his last four games versus the Patriots, the 11-year veteran has 30 receptions for 573 yards and a score.

4. More Kevin Faulk
It’s now been 17 games and whether it’s because of injury or other factors, Corey Dillon just isn’t getting the job done at running back...

5. Let’s get physical
If you like physical football, this is your kind of game...

(snip) much more at link...

23. Brady and the front 7 give them a chance
Brady is at 7.8 yards per attempt this year, outstanding and much better than some of his Super Bowl years namely 2003. I can never discount that type of quarterbacking plus a smart coach. But the rest of the team has flaws and playing at Indy is the trump card for the Colts, IMO, especially since Indy already whacked New England on the road this season. That nullifies if not reverses that "in your head" stuff and makes the Colts believe they own New England. The intensity level from the Colts early in that game would be surreal. If it's a cheap line I'll play Indy in the first half against the Patriots and be shocked if it loses. Whether New England can get by Denver I don't know. I'm not a big believer in the Broncos but I tend to shy away from road teams in this 2nd round of the playoffs. They lay eggs a plenty.

24. I've got some bad news for you.
The Patrioats arrived only this afternoon (they caused a traffic jam on their way from DIA to a downtown hotel).

It is a well documented fact that it takes people (even athletes) at least 48 hours to acclimate themselves to the altitude of Denver. Hell, I moved here 25 years ago and I have never been acclimated!

Go Brrrroncos! (You have to roll the 'r')
