Boy aren't those Va.Tech Hokies are one class act
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 08:53 AM by underpants
First Williams got on the officials' nerves so quickly that they seem to have found a reason to boot him.

Then there was general thuggish behaviour THEN Marcus Vick openly tried to injure (for life) a Louisville player by stepping on the back of his calf while he is down and then putting all his,Vick's, weight on it. Nice.

Oh near the end of the game there was one Va.TEch student-who contributes to the university by playing for the football team- who seemed to be very proud of his shoes. He got right up in front of the camera and pointed down (I would presume at his new shoes) with both hands. He seemed to be very excited about it.

:eyes:

I am a UVa fan first but I always root for Tech as long as they are playing anyone else but UVa...not yesterday. Beamer has class and he should show it by at least apologizing for his teams behaviour if not asking them to do so in front of a camera.

Oh but the Hokie fans probably don't care so long as they get a WIN!!! they will act like there was never any doubt about winning that one.

Hokies.
I doubt his job is safe (now), but the quarterback coach for the Hokies did express outrage over the Vick incident.
Outlaw conduct, and not jmho, because I have video to prove it.

2. Beamer didn't see it either
Tech was extremely lucky not to have a huge problem late in the second quarter. The officials apparently were the only people in the stadium who didn't see Tech quarterback Marcus Vick deliver a stomp to the lower leg of a prone Elvis Dumervil, Louisville's standout defensive end. Vick said it was accidental, not a view many shared. Even Tech quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers called the move "flagrant" and said Vick likely would have been ejected.

"It's one of those things that happened . . . I didn't see it exactly," Beamer said. "Whatever happened, it's unfortunate."

4. I saw him stomp on it before they replayed it over and over again.
That was the moment I openly cared about who won the game.

Accidental, my ass. He picked his foot up and stomped down. No one moves like that by accident.

3. I think what VT was legally doing to the L'ville QB

was harsh enough.

they put enough licks on that poor kid that I honestly think he
may have thrown the last two picks just so he could get the hell
off the field. that was just a beating.

but he was doing cartwells by the end of the game.

his line was 15 of 37 for 216 yards, 3TD, 3 INTs --
1 returned for a TD.

not great, but he also set records for "Yards Lost
attempting to Live".

10. well hey, at least he didn't rape him
so it's an improvement for Marcus. Why is this boy (no man acts this way) still playing for Tech? there's your lesson on what's wrong with college sports right now.

Oh, and Marcus? I'd turn pro, and play a few years in Canada, you're going to have a target on your back next season. You aren't ready, but hey, it's better than having every defensive player in the NCAA looking for payback.

did anyone see the WaPo's story on this? headline: Va. Tech Stomps Away With Win clever.

Vick is a jagoff for insisting that it was. He should have been flagged at the very minimum for that.

Gator Bowl ref: Hokies 'brutal' in first half

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Virginia Tech players were out of control during the first half of the Gator Bowl, and Hokies quarterback Marcus Vick should have been ejected for stomping on a prone Louisville defender, the game's referee said Wednesday.

Steve Usecheck, a Big 12 Conference official who led the crew for Monday's game, called Tech's first-half taunting and late hits the worst he's seen in his 22 seasons. He said that no official saw Vick stomp the back of Elvis Dumervil's leg while Dumervil was down on the turf late in the second quarter.

"We missed that, and I'm sorry we did," Usecheck told the Newport News Daily Press from his Colorado home. "The TV, everybody saw it but us. I wish we had the opportunity to talk to (Vick) because that was complete (expletive). You bet I would have thrown his ass out."

http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/9144110

fwiw, newport news, VA, is marcus vick's hometown, and even his hometown newspaper is condemning "the stomp".

and apparently the entire VT team resembled a little band of thugs on new year's day.

Beamer to meet with Vick, mother over Louisville flap

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer will meet with Marcus Vick at his home on Friday and no announcement of possible discipline for the junior quarterback will be made before that, athletic director Jim Weaver said Thursday.

The meeting will take place at the home of Vick's mother in Hampton Roads, Weaver said, and also will involve Vick's mother and possibly his brother, former Virginia Tech star Michael Vick, quarterback and merchandising megastar for the Atlanta Falcons.

"He's going there to talk about the situation and what issues are out there at this point and what Marcus needs to do," Weaver said in a telephone interview.

Vick, whose career at Virginia Tech has been turbulent, set off a firestorm of new criticism in the Gator Bowl when he was caught on tape stomping on the left calf of Lousiville All-American Elvis Dumervil after Dumervil tackled him during the game.

a little follow up. I have confidence that beamer is going to do the right thing.

26. Report: Hokies intend to suspend Vick
Virginia Tech will discipline Marcus Vick for his behavior in the Hokies' bowl game, with an announcement of the penalty possibly coming Monday.

The junior quarterback will be suspended for an undetermined number of games next season if he returns to school, The Hampton Roads (Va.) Daily Press reported, citing two athletic department officials.
