That's the NFC North Champion Chicago Bears ™
Yes...All the supposed "experts" picked the Bears to finish last in what was once thought to be the worst division in football. Now the NFC North Champion Chicago Bears™ have made them eat their words. First round bye and a second round home game. And they beat the Green Bay Packers to win the title. The Bears will be a force to contend with in the playoffs. What a great Christmas.

3. Thanks very much to the Bears defense!
Especially on that last drive last night, the two sacks and interception secured a Super Bowl victory for me in my Fantasy League, 84-82. Thanks Bears!

Of course, now that the fantasy season is over I really don't have much use for them

9. Enjoy the euphoria while it lasts
Like they've done since the late 1980's, they might win one playoff game, then have another four years of suck. But, what the hell, we'll let the Chicagoans gloat for a few months before their egos are brutally shattered once again...

10. Might Want To Wait On That Doc
The defense, unlike those of the last two decent teams, is young and locked in for several years. They have room under the cap, and some of the hottest D players aren't up for contract for at least 3 years.

I'm just guessing, like anyone else, but this time feels different to me.

11. Congrats from a Packers fan.
Hard to hate the Bears right now. With so little tape on Grossman this year, opposing teams will have a tough time defending in the post-season.

I'm really glad the Vikes didn't win the division, most of all.

13. Don't take it personally or anything
Goes back to the seventies, when I had to put up with Tarkenton, Foreman, Krause, Page, etc. beating the crap out of not only the Packers, but the rest of the division too. It's not like I hate any of those players anymore; quite to the contrary, I think they all deserve the personal laurels they've received.

I remember, as a kid, chanting along with my friends(Lions fans to a one)"Vikings and Cowboys and Rams. Oh my." Those teams were always in the playoffs. We couldn't stand it. I still don't care too much for the other two teams just mentioned, either.

17. OK, I get it now.
I also grew up on Fran. He was so damn good. Maybe that's why I like Brett--they seem to have similar attitudes to the game (too bad Tarkenton has turned into a hack).

That front four was awesome. Oh the glory days. Except we didn't get the damn trophy.

18. As a Packer fan in the Lions' den, I here a lot of it
back about the Packers. During the '70's and '80's I could comiserate w/Lions' fans. Now the old pals have turned on me.

Can't say I blame them. Not a sniff of a champioship game(League, that is)since '57, those fans have got a reason to grumble.

I've met a lot of good Lions' fans at packer games. Lot's of UAW/Flint Truck & Bus jackets who scrimped for season tickets even as the layoffs loomed. I root for the Lions to win soon for those guys.

BTW:Congrats on 1000 posts, pal. I think we started contributing at the same time(I lurked for a year before first posting). I always enjoy reading your stuff. Not bad for a purple person.;)

20. I agree about the Lions
They really need a winning season. I don't think that will happen until this problem is taken care of

14. 1-3 against the AFC
Edited on Thu Dec-29-05 10:08 AM by Bill McBlueState
And outscored 71-36 by the AFC North. Says something to me about the quality of the competition in the NFC.

Still, I think they have a good shot at the Super Bowl.

15. Bears Flashback Nightmare -- Eeeeeek !
Edited on Thu Dec-29-05 11:51 AM by SpiralHawk
Remembering Refrigerator Perry and BadAss Burly Cohorts totally smashing up the Patriots of long ago in the Super Bowl. That was a painful game for a Red, White and Blue fan to endure. But the times have changed. I reckon that if it comes down to it, the Pats Vs. Bears would be more competitive in this milennium.

The NFC champion Chicago Bears, seeking their first NFL title since 1963, scored a Super Bowl-record 46 points in downing AFC champion New England 46-10 in Super Bowl XX. The previous record for most points in a Super Bowl was 38, shared by San Francisco in XIX and the Los Angeles Raiders in XVIII.

The Bears' league-leading defense tied the Super Bowl record for sacks (7) and limited the Patriots to a record-low seven rushing yards.

16. All of the experts... except for one... ME!
Ask Bengal fan Sasquatch. I told him right before the Bears/ Bengals game that the Bears would, 'Win the division this year and next year- Super Bowl Shuffle 2.'

With Grossman looking pretty good, I wonder if SBS 2 is really THIS YEAR!
