Who Remembers?
The top 6 vote getters of the 1999 Heisman race? Ron Dayne…Joe Hamilton….Michael Vick…Drew Brees… Chad Pennington…. Peter Warrick!

Where are they now??

Ron Dayne…sitting on the bench in Denver

Joe Hamilton…..Who knows? Was on the Tampa Bay roster for 5 years...played in one game....his rookie year.

Michael Vick…a superstar on a mediocre Atlanta. Falcons team.

Drew Brees….Having his best…but average…year in San Diego.

Chad Pennington….having a very poor year in NY for the Jets

Peter Warrick…Pretty much sitting on the bench in Seattle… And who got invited to the ceremony after being arrested, if memory serves me right. I am surprised he isn’t in jail now.

Anyone know the player who did not even get invited to the ceremony that year, and what he is doing now????

A hint….

He leads the NFL in rushing and TDs and balloting for the Pro-bowl. His team, since they began to utilize his talents to the max, clinched their division and looks to have a great shot at the Super Bowl….and all that in spite of a coach who is an idiot….

Anyone have a guess? The man...

1. Ron Dayne is not really riding the bench
he may not be starting, but he has played in at least the last few games.

And yes, Shaun Alexander is the man!

2. Chad Pennington hasn't played in months
Another shoulder injury on his throwing side. He only played the first two or three games.

I did love Shawn Alexander at Bama. He had a huge game in the Orange Bowl comeback against Michigan.

4. Alexander the Great.
He was the stud RB on my Fantasy Football team this year.

5. More proof that the Heisman Trophy is no indication of future performance
However, Dayne had an awsome season in '99! Granted, the o-line did an amazing job, but Dayne's stats at Wisconsin were nothing to sneeze at.

Hamilton(I don't remember this guy at all) and Warrick have been less than stellar in the pros while Brees has been much better than serviceable.

And, of course, Pennington is having a lousy year. HE'S BEEN INJURED ALL SEASON!!! When healthy he's as good as any QB out there(well, maybe not as good as Peyton).

The idiot coach of whom you write drove me nutsmore than once when he coached the Packers. With the lead coming in to the second half of any game Holmgren is the most annoyingly conservative(you could read that as predictable)play caller there is. But he's got the Seahawks on the cusp of something really big- I think they'll represent the NFC in the Super Bowl- and bad coaches don't get that far.

I can think of another idiot who coached Alexander.

6. You Must Really Be A Football Junkie
I thought that only us die-hard Bama fans would remember Mike DuBose. Unfortunately for us...

7. In all honesty, it was a case of the blind squirrel finding the nut!
I couldn't remember the guy's name, I just remembered he was not good.

10. It wasn't just him
Did you know that some of our coaches actually got into a fist fight before the Orange Bowl? In the damn pressbox nonetheless! Crazy man...

8. Drew Brees currently has a 94.0 QB rating. I'd hardly call that average..
...average would be, uh, "superstar" Michael Vick, with a QB rating of 76.0, or perennial media darling Brett Favre, with a rating of 75.9. Brees is having a very good year. He'll probably be in the Pro Bowl. However, yes, you are right about Alexander, he is excellent.

9. Sure as heck hope Chad finally gets healthy and stays healthy!
I think he could be one of the best if that happens.
