78 freaking years old!
Should he have retired? Last year I said yes. Man oh man.

1. Joe Paterno?
The last of the old guard.

2. And with an outside shot at the title.
It's almost enough to make me cheer for UCLA and Texas A&M next week.

3. I'm not a big Penn State fan, but it's nice to see someone who has
been around so long still hanging in there. Like I said, he's the last of the old guard...he was coaching way back when...when college football was very different.

4. I'm not a fan, either. I grew up in Mississippi, so he's always been
the guy who stole Bear Bryant's crown to me. But I've started to admire what he's done, lately, especially after the last few seasons, when people were openly questioning whether he was too old, or had lost his faculties. Now if he retires he can do it with dignity.

Or he could coach until he's 90, who knows?

5. Let's hope he does well in the bowl game and retires....
...I tend to think this is his last good year. Sure, it's been a great year for him, but the Big 10 ain't that strong this year. Like I said, he's one of the old guard, and the game really has passed him by.

Gotta wonder whose gonna take the job when he leaves, though. It's taking over for a legend.
