Poll question: Which is the better Thanksgiving Game?
Edited on Mon Nov-21-11 08:52 AM by charlie and algernon
This is certianly the first time in well over a decade that the Lions game actually means something, but now we also have the evening game pitting two serious playoff contenders against each other who happen to be coached by two brothers.

Even the Cowboys game is interesting as they face off against the suddenly hot Dolphins.

10. The Maine Forum - you mean someone's private blog?
Every so often I'll try to post something interesting but it's taken over by one person.

18. LOL, just checked it out, that's hysterical!
The best part is that he/she seems perfectly happy just posting nonsense and talking to themselves.

22. No fear, that person won't see your comment, as I never see him/her post anywhere else on DU
...."someone's private blog" describes it perfectly.

3. Packers and Lions hopefully will be the better game
Niners clinched division already (that's got to be a record) so I don't think they'll be too creative.

Besides, the Ravens need the win.

4. Niners haven't clinched it yet
They can if they beat the Ravens on Thursday and the Seahawks lose on Sunday. So the Niners can't relax yet but you are right in that the Ravens need this win more than the Niners do. However, if the Packers lose to the Lions in the afternoon, then the Niners should really try to win and get that #1 seed.

6. you're right,
thought I had heard this morning that they did.

It might be a bit early to start thinking about the number 1 seed though. Still 6 games to play.

5. Niners at ravens...because I'm not sure SF has really had to prove
itself yet...this game should tell.

8. Sure...that's right...
the 49ers already beating the Lions in Detroit, something the Packers and their fans seem worried about doing, didn't prove nothing..:eyes:

9. nor did beating the Giants apparently
And remember, the Niners were the team that snapped the Lions unbeaten streak when everyone was talking about how the Lions were going to be a major power this season.

12. Um, didn't you watch last night's game?
Apparently it depends on which Giants team shows up...Eli flubbing last night like he did in SF...yes, they beat both teams, but it was close...if they really are contenders, they can beat the Ravens at Baltimore.

14. I think your spot on
THE Ravens are the Niners biggest test...GIANTS are a hit and miss and the Lions can still play like the old Lions.

Although Ray Lewis wont be playing.

17. The Lions and Giants aren't contenders?
The Giants are tied for first in the NFC East, while the Lions currently hold down one of the wild cards. SF has also beaten the Bengals in Cincinnati who too are in a WC spot..

Regardless of what happens in Baltimore, the 49ers have nothing more to prove. They are 9-1, their only loss being in OT, and their point differential of +111 is second in the NFL only to the Packers. What else do you want them to do?

20. people seem not to realize that of the Niners' 9 wins only 2 of them are from the NFC West
the other seven are from out of the division. They won AT Cincy, AT Detroit, AT Philly, AT Washington, and beat the Giants in SF. The Niners are for real. Though, i guess all that's left to prove is if their Super Bowl calliber. Beating the Ravens and Steelers should end that doubt as well.

13. Not a fair test... short week on an opposite coast
49ers start off behind the Eight Ball. If they do manage to beat the Ravens it'll be an awesome victory. If they lose the schedule will be questioned.

19. As mentioned above, the niners can afford to lose this game
The Ravens are the team that can't afford to lose. Going 7-4 won't help them in the tight AFC.

I'm really hoping the Niners win, but I'd be fine if they lost a close, evenly contested game. What I don't want is for them to lose 35-3.

23. I think it'll be close. Jim will open up the playbook to beat his brother.
I thought he ran a lot of different stuff and highlighted nearly the entire offensive roster against Arizona just to give John and staff more to worry about. What concerns me is fatigue and injuries. As you point out, it's not a must-win for the the 49ers .

21. Lions/Packers
because I REALLY hope the Packers lose. As much as I hate the Dolphins and their unbeaten season, I don't think I could live this close to GB if the Packers do it.

26. As far as I'm concerned there's only 2... the Lions and the Cowboys.
I wish they'd do away with the stupid Thursday night game on Thanksgiving. The rest of the teams had their chance at it a long time ago, and no one wanted it. I refuse to watch the night game. That said, the Lions game will be the best. :hi:
