Boston Red Sox Pitcher, John Lackey, Files for Divorce from His Wife Who Has Breast Cancer
Edited on Mon Sep-26-11 07:54 PM by Yavin4
Now, since this is not a Yankee or a Laker or a USC Trojan, this piece of news does not get posted here in the "so-called" DU sports forum.

No, this jerk, Lackey, is a current Red Sox player, which goes against the theme of this message board that all Red Sox players are morally superior human beings.

To which I say, never seen ARod pull some shit like this:

Boston Red Sox pitcher John Lackey has filed to divorce his wife, Krista ... who is in the middle of battling breast cancer.

Lackey filed on August 30, according to court docs in Texas, claiming "the marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities." Krista and John got married in November, 2008.

1. Yes, that is some serious douchebaggery, though I'm sure you will never see this reply.

2. We don't know both sides so I won't judge - but as a Sox fan,
Lackey's behavior is typically abhorrent (as was his pitching all season long).

Not defending him at all, and it looks awful - kind of Gingrichian, to tell the truth - just waiting for a better source than TMZ and more details to emerge. As far as his baseball abilities - don't make me laugh!

3. I don't care if your wife is sucking the neighbor kids dick in plain site.
You don't walk out in the middle of a cancer fight.

14. Nope. I try very hard to be consistent and not a hypocrite, to tell the truth.

6. I don't judge other folks' marriages.
Not my business since I don't know the whole story. It's between them. Maybe he is a jerk. Maybe not. I don't know if any of us will ever know for sure.

9. If it's as it appears, he's an ass regardless of what team he plays for
Or in Lackey's case, I'd have to say "which team pays him" because he's certainly NOT playing baseball.

11. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone here that really gives two shits about Arod or Lackey
As long as I've been posting here neither of those two have been major topics of discussion. At least given preference when it's a yankees player or a sox player. When Ortiz got busted for roids he gots his here.

When Manny got busted he got his too.

Overall, I really don't think folks here give much of a fuck about about Yankees Sox enough to have it dominate the page. It really is a boring subject for those that don't really give a shit about either team. Those that do generally keep it minimal.

12. Uh, most people I know put the Yankees and Red Sox in the same category these days.
So quit the pity party.

13. Were you expecting someone to come to Lackey's defense,
at least any more than to say that they don't know the whole story yet? Were you under the impression that there's a bunch of Red Sox fans who were going to stick up for the $20 million a year Pitcher with the 557th best ERA in baseball?

(just for perspective, assuming each team has 12 pitchers on their roster (which many don't), 12 * 30 = 360, which means there are 196 pitchers who are either injured or can't even manage to stay in the majors that pitched better than him). If you're looking for John Lackey fans, you might want to talk to some Angels fans who may still have some fond memories, because the Sox fans didn't like this guy even before this story came out.

And I wasn't aware this message board had a "theme", much less one that suggested the moral superiority of any group of professional athletes. Perhaps you're just projecting your own thoughts onto it.
