MIAMI -- Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor would face a minimum prison sentence of three years if convicted on charges of pointing a gun during a dispute about an all-terrain vehicle.

A trial date was set for Sept. 12, the day after the Redskins open their season.

State prosecutors filed charges Friday against the 22-year-old former University of Miami star. He faces a single count of aggravated assault with a firearm, said Michael Greico, assistant state attorney.

Taylor allegedly was among a group of people who got into a June 1 armed confrontation over a vehicle the player and his associates believed had been stolen. Another man in the group, 19-year-old Charles Caughman, also faces aggravated assault charges. He is accused of threatening and chasing someone with a baseball bat.

Taylor was already holding out on his contract. After his rookie season. Didn't think his agent got him the best deal. They should take him, and former UM teammate Kellen Winslow Jr., make them pay back their multi-million dollar signing bonuses, cut them, and consign them to a lifetime of Arena Football.

2. NFL vs Playmakers( the series)

Lets think back one year The Washington Redskins had the number 6 pick in the 2004 Draft. They faced a huge choice in regards to the pick.
They were looking at choosing either Sean Taylor or Kellen Winslow Jr...because a poor choice that he made on a motorcycle..he caused severe damage to his leg.Therefore a 6 million dollar mistake and not being able to play in the 2005 season.
So they went with Plan B they chose Sean Taylor from Miami lets see one DUI arrest and Firing shots at someone inside a house with an AK-47 with a loaded weapon because they stole something from you.
Poor choice once again part 2 and there is a strong chance that he will end up in prison,because of his stupidity.Either way the Redskins would have been screwed on either person

3. About 20 years ago

I was in a situation. Arrested on a drug charge, and facing a mandatory 30 months in prison. No deals, I pled guilty, and was sentenced. Now keep in mind, I had the best criminal atty. in Cleveland.

Not long after that, Browns running back Kevin Mack gets busted on the exact same charges. Just happens to get the same judge. He does 30 days, and forfeits his Mercedes. As it turns out, I wound up doing 7 and a half months, and a year on parole.

These guys don't live in the same world we do.

I am wondering since Taylor`s Father is a police chief in a suburb of miami, how strong of a role will that play in things also....?
Do you think he will do any time for his case???

And a load of community service. I didn't realize his father was a police chief. That will probably count for a lot.
