Are the Longhorns in Trouble?

Are the Longhorns in Trouble?

The wife of legendary Texas Longhorn quarterback Colt McCoy took it upon herself to call into Colin Cowherd’s talk show and join the discussion about college athletes receiving impermissible benefits, a topic that has been in the news of late with the controversy surrounding the Ohio State and USC football programs.

From reading a transcript of her call, it is easy to see that her intention was to take some of the heat of young players like Terrelle Pryor and her husband, and put it on the adults that entice athletes with gifts. While she did get her point across, she may have given the NCAA enough of a cause to investigate the Texas Longhorns football program.

“I know Colt was approached quite a bit but I saw so many of his teammates who didn’t have some of that self- control to say no to somebody … it’s hard, because you have adults who you respect and who you think will know what’s right and wrong … when you have adults promising things and offering things …”

Accusations of impermissible conduct carry a lot of weight in the state of Texas. The SMU football program became the only program in NCAA history to receive the death penalty during the mid-80s for all the wrong-doing that went on there. It took over 25 years for SMU to recover, and actually post back to back winning seasons. ..............(more)

1. ...snicker, snicker...
All programs have skeletons in the closet, I'm sure (yes, including Oklahoma)...but most former players' wives don't call them out on it.

4. When I was at UNC some genius put the bike lane right next to all the frat houses
After every damn home football game I'd get a flat tire from broken beer bottles.

That's one of the reasons I switched from a road bike to a mountain bike.

And yes, I heard about the dude and posted multiple times in the GD thread about it:
