Sources: MLB, players talk realignment
A simple form of realignment has been raised in the labor talks between Major League Baseball and the players' association, according to three sources: two leagues of 15 teams, rather than the current structure of 16 teams in the National League and 14 in the American League.

According to a highly ranked executive, one consideration that has been raised in ownership committee meetings is eliminating the divisions altogether, so that 15 AL and 15 NL teams would vie for five playoff spots within each league. Currently, Major League Baseball has six divisions.

A source who has been briefed on the specifics of the labor discussions says that the players' union has indicated that it is open to the idea of two 15-team leagues, but that the whole plan still hasn't been talked through or presented to the owners.

"I'd still say the odds of it happening are less than 50-50," one source said.

I think the Houston switch would be a good idea or the Brewers could always switch back to the AL and have a good rivalry with the Twins

1. Unless there's a salary cap, no.
The main reason Cleveland chose to be in the Central Division rather than the East during the last realignment plan was so they could remain competitive against smaller market teams. This plan favors big market cities.

2. Pittsburgh
would give PA a team in each league for the first time since the A's left. Plus the Pirates could get an All-Star Game, much like expansion teams do: a much-needed shot in the arm for one of baseball's storied franchises that has fallen on hard times of late.

3. Two fifteen team leagues will never work. First and foremost it would
create inter-league play throughout the year which would create a scheduling nightmare. A 15/15 scenario will never happen. The scheduling logistics will never allow something like that to happen.

The leagues have to have even numbers. It will either remain 14/16 or will go to a 16/16 division for a total of 32 teams.
