The Giants, reacting swiftly to the loss of second baseman Freddy Sanchez, will sign free-agent infielder Bill Hall, according to a major-league source.

Sanchez dislocated his right shoulder Friday night while diving for a groundball in the Giants’ 3-2 victory over the Reds. He is expected to miss significant time.

The Giants are awaiting the returns of third baseman Pablo Sandoval from a fractured right hand and infielder Mike Fontenot from a left groin strain.

The Giants have now lost their top 3 hitters. Pitching can take you a long way, but it can't score runs..I really don't see how they're expected to compete when Bochy is forced to field a lineup that consists of players who either started the year on the bench or in the minors..
