Same old Canucks
Before the playoffs started, I thought they would romp through, losing 2-3 games. Then they almost choked away a 3-game lead vs. my beloved Hawks. Now they're sucking air again. This team is absolutely stacked with talent. WTF is wrong?

Game 3 - puck behind Canucks net. 4 Nucks and 2 Bruins go after it. the 2 bruins come away with it and score

Game 4 - Ryder enters the zone during a change - him against 4 Canucks. Salo, despite having 3 mates with him against Ryder, backpedals like Newt Gingrinch - score.

Kessler and Raymond showed up last night. Everyone else stayed on the bus.

I still think they have enough talent to win, but they're making it much harder than it should be.

1. Luongo played 2 horrible games is the answer.
They outshot the Bruins and lost both games.

2. The Nucks scored one goal in the two games combined
Bobby Lu was awful, but it didn't matter. About 17 of them phoned it in. we'll see if the Pacific air revives them tonight. I watched a year ago as Boland, Ladd, & Versteeg completely neutered the Sedins' line (and then Thornton, then Richards). Last year the Canucks were outgunned by the Hawks. This year IMO they have a decided talent edge over the B's. Let's see if they can make it count. Right now the Bruins seem to have an edge in determination.

4. Just a 2-2 series still, ugly or not.
They have the talent to quickly turn things back around. The Bruins got in their heads in Boston, for sure, but they have time to right the ship still. This isn't over by a long shot, but the Sedins HAVE to show up, and Luongo needs to play to his ability and not give up those Ryder type goals. The team needs those saves and they're not getting them. And having Thomas at the other end makes each mistake by Luongo look all the bigger. He's a world class goalie, but this is the stage where he has to show he belongs. I truly think this year is make or break for Luongo, and if the Canucks lose the series he's gone.

5. I still think they'll pull it out
And Alain's job will probably be extended, but something's wrong there, just like it is for the Caps. To have a chance to get a death grip on the Cup, like they did Wednesday, and have 3 rowers and 17 passengers, is the sign of some pathology. The Sedins and Luongo are among the elites in the league at their positions. Any franchise would love to have Bieksa, Borrows, Kesler, Raymond, Salo, Edler, Erhoff... Luongo's getting outplayed, but so are most of their skaters.

All that said, I think their talent will pull them through tonight and Monday. As a Hawks fan I don't have a dog in this fight. The Hawks have filled some of the holes that gaped open last summer, and should be back atop the Central next year. I underestimated how valuable Byfugelin, Versteeg, Ladd, Madden, and Sopel were last May.

6. Chicago had to let go of too many depth guys last year.
Edited on Fri Jun-10-11 03:15 PM by Forkboy
The stars are great, but you need the muckers and grinders to win. The B's have an entire team of them, and it shows in their compete level from shift to shift, something Vancouver hasn't matched yet. Chicago almost pulled off the comeback without those kind of players, a testament to how good their main core is, but without guys like Byfugelin and Madden success is a chancy thing. The salary cap killed them after winning the Cup, but they're only a couple small pieces away from climbing back to the top.

Vancouver is certainly the more talented team, but Boston is the hungrier team. It's making for a great Finals. I predicted the Canucks way back in October, and still think they'll pull it out as well, but the B's will not go down easily. I'm really happy with how the team has played all year long, win or lose.

Christ, you can have the series if it'll stop you from reaching for the tissue box like you did the other night.

9. Whining? Whining about hypocritical boston morons like you, yes
Edited on Fri Jun-10-11 11:47 PM by shoutinfreud
However, as you would have noticed if you weren't such an idiot, this thread is talking about the actual game, not that beantown shitdildos like you could understand enough about it to actually talk Hockey. What will bruins fans piss and moan about after today's game?

10. I feel like I should be paying you for this entertainment.

Funny how you talk about whining but, even with a 3-2 game lead, that's all you can muster. Still bitching and moaning, like a candy ass.

If you're going to reply, see if you can muster up the effort from more than two brain cells at once. I know that's asking a lot, but dammit, I have faith in you, even if your own family has denounced you and the family dog shits on your basement cot.

12. So far bitching is all I've seen you do. One trick ponies show more versatility than you have.
When does your second act start? Your first act was funny shit, but you were aiming for seriousness, making it a total failure.

And seriously..."porkboy"? Really? Is this the kind of "wit" we can expect from you, or do you eventually show signs of intelligence beyond amoebas at some point?

I'm gonna root for the Canucks, just because you so clearly need the affirmation of a sports team winning to make you feel manly. I've never experienced such fragile insecurity, but I've read about it in books, and feel bad for those, such as yourself, who suffer from the affliction. I've read that it stems from being breast fed through a straw, but surely, even your mother, if we were able to reach her at Vancouver Zoo's Gorilla Compound, would claim she was nicer to you than that.

If I've used too many syllables let me know. I'm used to talking to Republicans, so dumbing down my meaning for idiots is something I can do if needed.

14. Eat a cheese grater?
What does that even mean? Even your insults are embarrassing. First "porkboy", and now "eat a cheese grater". Shit, even Republican talk would be educational for you. You should thank me for trying to lift you from the mire of total idiocy, you ingrate*!!!

*in·grate (ngrt)
n.
An ungrateful person.

Just saving you the trouble of having to look the word up. You can thank me later, when two syllable words become the norm for you. Sometime around 2036...

17. I know, I didn't mean to ruin your obvious kindness to fellow Sports Forum members.
You were being so nice about things, until I came along with an attitude and fucked it all up....

And you need to be told what you're bitching at? You started an entire thread dedicated to bitching about Bruins fan. Earth to dumbass...come in, dumbass. Judging from your insecurity we already know that you have a short dick, but now we can add short memory to the list as well.

Random thought: Do you get paid per use of the word "hypocrite"? You should. Like Ann Coulter, you could make money without even knowing what you're talking about.

And when is your 16th birthday? I bet that day, a few years from now, will be an exciting one for you.

20. Tim Thomas has a lot to do with it.
He's just playing out of his mind. He should win the Conn Smythe regardless of the series outcome.
