Thanks to Dirk!

Fuck, I will probably have it totally wrong and the heat will win in six.

2. Jason Terry
Edited on Tue May-31-11 10:59 AM by JonLP24
Very fast and can shoot the ball very well. Heat will not leave him open especially when he is hot.

I think Marion is borderline, he was really good with the Suns. He is a very versatile player and has done well in the playoffs.

I'm not a fan but they also have Jason Kidd. I know he is old but he is one of the all time assists leaders and rebounds very well for a point guard. He is still a great defender, his other skills may have diminished but not his defense(Defense may not be as good as it was when he was in his prime, my point is his defense is still very good).

Edit-Forgot about JJ Barea Lebron James will be guarding him, "at times". http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=NBA&id=1326&line=160849&spln=1

Although much of the defensive chatter has been focused on who would guard Dirk Nowitzki for Miami, Spoelstra realizes that Barea can be a big X-Factor for a Mavericks team that thrive off of his energy. "If you don’t treat him with the same type of respect as we did with Derrick Rose, he can really come in and have an impact on the game," said Spoelstra. James probably won't spend too much time on the much smaller Barea, but it's worth noting considering how successful Barea has been in the postseason.

4. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything
Edited on Tue May-31-11 11:56 AM by JonLP24
I didn't say Dallas will win (or Heat for that matter). I'm probably rooting for the Heat(though I'd rather see a great series because I hate(sports kind of hate) Dallas and hate Jason Kidd. I'm not sure the Miami-Chicago series disputes what was said. Deng and Boozer had good games, they both played better than Rose in the OT loss. Also Rose took 36.6 percent of the team's shots which is higher than Kobe and James ever had for their teams in the playoffs. Rose had much better teammates than James had in Cleveland after Boozer. If it was just Rose, Chicago wouldn't have won 62 games.

Same with Dirk. If it was just Dirk, Dallas would have been in the NBA finals the last 10 years.

If your point is if they made the All-Star team then I got it. Boston had 4 All-Stars. Chicago beat a team with 2 All-Stars to get to the Heat. Dallas beat LA which had 2 All-Stars and they also defeated Oklahoma City who had 2 All-Stars. I try to look at the unsung heroes and what their strengths are.

Miami has James Jones who is a great 3-point shooter. Joel Anthony is a terrific shot blocker. Udonis Haslem is their best bench player who was missing almost the entire season. I remember someone where said that Boston was "depleted" and pointed that Jermaine O'Neal and Shaquille O'Neal were hurt, but they still played and Haslem was still injured for the series. So I think Heat was depleted as well with him gone.

5. You mentioned Dirk in the first post
And picked Dallas in 5 -- so I wondered if you thought that because of Dirk.

6. There is actually more than just Dirk
and there's depth. However, I still don't think the Mavs can match up against Miami's "Big 3" or whatever the hell they're called. I'm thinking Miami in six, and trust me, I've been following the Mavs since their inception in 1980. So, yes, I'm pulling for them.

11. There will be a lot of exploding heads at DU
I remember the outrageous rants against the Texas Rangers (a really great group of guys, by the way) because W once was part owner and attended the games. I couldn't believe the amount of hatred, even though I'm not a Ranger fan, but a Rays fan. Now I see we have the two great "heathen" states facing one another in the finals, and DU sports fans are short-circuiting in front of our eyes.

By the way, waiting for some knucklehead to say he's pulling for Miami because Dallas killed JFK. Yep, remember hearing stuff like that back in the day.
