2. I read it
Not as explosive as we were led to believe but pretty damning nonetheless.

4. Yes, but the clear implication is that Tressel knew what was going on

Which I think is true. And nobody will ever convince me that he landed so many recruits from questionable backgrounds by simply presenting himself as a father figure. No way.

13. How so? This has been going on for 9 years - at OSU alone.
The players just stream through the system.

6. Bobby Knight's a prick.
But he said it best. "You cheat once. You'll cheat again." Relates to a bunch of assholes out there. Tressel's just one.

7. They need to get rid of the charade
Run the football program like a business - which it is - and give the kids a salary. If the alumni want to give them hookers, let them.

8. Gee. Big Ten Commish Jim Delaney brought that up.
And was roundly chastised. Of course, you heard nothing from the SEC. They already pay their players.

14. Well...
Lets review, shall we?

2002, U-M 9 OSU 14, Clarrett was the offensive, what happens in that game if they didn't have him?

2004, U-M 21 OSU 37, Should Troy Smith have been eligible to play that game? He was clearly the difference.

2005, U-M 21 OSU 25, see previous reason (Hint: Troy Smith)

2006, U-M 39 OSU 42, see previous reason (Hint: Troy Smith)

2007, U-M 3 TSIO 14, while Michigan's three offensive stars were hurt, who *should* have been ineligible for OSU?

How many OSU players should have been ineligible for these games? How many difference makers? Were they at OSU because of lax supervision and player perks? Was the deck stacked with players who should have been ineligible? Would Tressel be 9-1 without them? Food for thought.

18. Yes. They would have been 9-1 even without those that you mention.

19. You seem to be suggesting that MICH was unable to beat OSU unless these players mentioned
above did not play.

I remember Mike Hart, Chad Henne, Massaqua, et al all being very good players. They should have been able to beat OSU whether or not the players you mentioned above did or did not play. Thats like when people suggest that the refs cost teams the game when, in fact, you should have played well enough where the refs do not become a factor in whether or not you win or lose.

Perhaps OSU should hire Rich Rod as a new coach, he seemed to do a great job of beating MICH down.

20. The point is that the players were most likely ineligible
And lured to OSU because of its lax policies. They were all very good players from questionable backgrounds, congregated in one place because of the perks they knew they could get. That's cheating. Had the players not known that OSU looks the other way on these kinds of things would all of them have been on that team? Yes, they were great athletes; OSU won the recruiting wars. But did they do it honestly?

16. Of course, this is part of what sent Tressel packing
When beating Michigan (or fill in the name of any rivalry school, or winning the mythical - or real, if they had one - national title) is the ONLY thing that matters, the end justifies the means.

Tressel probably could have posted an impressive record against Michigan regardless - he's an effective coach. But probably not AS impressive...

17. Let me preface this by saying I'm not a fan of Michigan either....
This is not just a problem your coach had as head coach at Ohio State. This is a problem that has followed him from Youngstown. That said, I believe this type of crap is rampant through the NCAA and the whip should crack.
